Hey guys for those of you who have one maybe you can help get me pointed in the right direction.....im looking at buying a trailer and was wondering of there are any shops or stores that sell them ?

Try Craigslist or Buy and Sell. I saw some listed in there before.

there used to be a place in kelowna that had some, but I don't think they're around any longer. some out in the praries or out east more... but then you deal with shipping etc. they're becoming more
scarce, but they do pop up on CL from time to time. check neighbouring areas like island interior, and WA.

dano82, I sent you an email. There is a fellow in Abbotsford who is a military vehicle buff. A number of us have got our trailers off him. I've never asked if it's ok to post his number on line, so respond to my email, and I will get it too you.

I may well be wrong, but I think these things in 1/2 decent shape are going to go up in value or not be as easily available, as from what I understand there are no more at military auction. Whats out there is in private hands now, or leftovers from some of the last auctions.

When I was looking for one, there was a guy in Abbotsford that had a batch.
I bought mine from able auctions in Coquitlam.
Don't know if they still show up in surplus sales or if they are pretty well all in private hands now.

(EDIT: Greg beat me to it)

If you are looking for a modified unit, mine should really find a new home. I just don't use it anymore since we got the Kamparoo and it is taking up 10% of my yard...

I don't have any recent photos but here's a list of mods.

Tailgate mod
Relocated taillights
Spring-over
New 6 bolt hubs/ drums bearings ( matches Land Cruiser)
9R 16 Michelin tires
Factory tarp cover
Custom Nato can mounts ( serve as nurfs, Cans included)
Quick fist mounts on fenders for farmjack, Shovel, axe. (included)
Extended landing leg

Looking for $2000 w/o Technitop RTT or $3000 with it.

That is a very nice plug & play set-up for someone.

ok thanks guys thanks lowenbrau if i had 2grand i would def snatch it up from you or even 3 grand but i dont have that kind of money ...ill keep looking

Yup, I was looking over Bruce's trailer at rivershiver 08 for some ideas. Lots of work done to it. Don't know if this a more recent pic, the link to the build pics doesn't work for me.
Adding a tailgate is something I will be doing to mine as well because a top loader as a utility trailer gets old fast.

What would the fuel penalty be pulling this behind a BJ74 -on highway? and tough trail ?

I don't recall the exact numbers (greg might...) but I don't think he used that much more fuel doing Whipsaw than I did. Mine with stock gearing and 33s, his with Mark's 1.08-3.05s, 35" swampers, and 101/RTT.

Also, based on looking at how much fuel we had for the extended trip on the way home, Greg hadn't used much more fuel than the rest of us after the trail and a bit of road travel. These things tow very nicely. Tuck in behind the truck too, so there's no aerodynamic penalty.

Hey Bruce,

I am interested in the trailer, don't really need the tent cause I usually crash in the truck. Sort of stuck in camp right now though and don't know when I will come out (never ending project)

Cheers,
Deny

Sure Bruce,

I am out of camp till monday, but then back in probably for I don't know how long. I have told my bossess that I am taking three weeks off after this project is done, so I could buy it from you then, or I could swing by on my way home or back north during Christmas Break. I'll send you a PM to discuss more.

Cheers,
Deny

There use to be a Rover guy in the interior that had a ton of the Brittish Military Sankey Trailers. They were a good unit and had a hydraulic breaking system built right in. I'll see if I can dig up his name if your interested. They were a very well built aluminum trailer. Here is a picture of one.
