Sorry to hear about your son rig. Most of the guys on this board are a about three or so hours away from that location. If no one from that area contacts you I would be willing to take a look for you. Keep in mind that most of the vehicles in Illinois with any amount of time on them are rusted... I have attempted to take care of my 80 over the years and mine is still rusting away before my eyes. You might want to consider an Arizona or other southern truck.

thanks fro the reply, but honestly, I'm bringing the truck to the Boston area and it will be seeing winter driving so getting something clean is like throwing money out the window.

I'm only hoping for a reasonable amount of rust and a body, interior exterior that has been taken care of.
 
What is your budget? I just did a straight trade to a local dealer on my 80 for a '02 4Runner. My 80 is still sitting in the lot and it is built up. I think it would sell between $7000-8000. 35" MTRs like new, ARB front bumper, spare tire carrier on the rear bumper, York OBA, custom sliders... etc. There was nothing wrong with it, but my wife totalled my commuter car and I needed to make a change. Truck was in pretty great shape maintenance wise and body wise... minimal rust.

I would be willing to take a look at it this weekend if we can make the arrangements. I live 100 miles south of Springfield. If you would like to talk it over my cell # 618-604-6310 evening is best as I some times cannot hear my phone at work.
 
Upon further review, it does look like a dent -- although it could easily be 'popped' back out. I didn't see the tailgate rust though. :frown:

It's too bad you can't come up with a couple more bucks and grab my old truck -- it would be nice to see it go to a good home. Although you could buy it and part out the winch, ARB, tires, etc. and make some $$ back. ;)
 
chitown, i checked that 80 out located on Ogden and there were some differences from what's on their pics to what I saw. First, there's no dent in the pass. rear quarter panel, there's black striping on both sides, tail lights guards are missing, AND a portion of the rear pass. side fender flare is missing. Let the pic do the talking...

That's the flare that I constantly knock off, along with the other side as well...


Were those real sliders or just steps?
