Im chasing something strange. 01 cruiser.

Got some cold temps here, and ive been knee deep in another car project, so brought cruiser inside and put a trickle charger on it as didnt drive for a week. I noticed after putting charger on it a blue led light up by rear view mirror was flashing. I also noticed my garage door overhead motor light seemed to be bkinking along with it.

Today, it still wasnt charged, which is odd as battery is 2 months old. So go to start it, and horn and lights start going nuts, car wont turn on. I go to get key to use in door luck, same result. Turn ign to on/off couple times, same result. Car beeps and freaks out, stops, then does it again after a few seconds.

Its the strangest thing as dont even lock doors or try ti activate an alarm. I havent used fob in years. Its strange the alarm would go off on an unlocked car.

Now trying to determine if my alarm is factory or not. Currently have battery disconnected to charge it, and am about to hook back up and see if fob helps. Added some pics. The part by the rear view mirror sure doesnt seem like toyota oe when i google it, pointing to some cheap “new code alarm and antennae product. I found an electrical connection disconnected, circled in green in one photo, under dash.

When i unhook the car from battery entirely, including positive cable, battery shows fully charged. There is a clicking noise that seems to be coming from about 10” to 12” behind battery. Cant quite tell yet what is clicking.

There is an ignition or starter interrupt on that alarm system. You'll have to trace back ALL the wires, connection and relays that were added on for the alarm system. Remove them and repair all of the splices, likely used t-taps. Then you might be able to start it normally
