Thanks for the update. My 2F really runs out of steam at 2-2200 rpm. I never thought about a heavily worn cam and limited airflow affecting power.

What's your top speed on a flat hwy?

I feel better since this spalling is not at the end of the lobe. Good oil should keep me running for a long time until it's time to 2FE:beer::cheers:
 
The problem is getting good oil for these engines. The zinc content in most oils has been severely cut. Additives is the only way to get good zinc content.

My understanding is the additives just upset the chemistry of the oil.
you are far better just buying oil with high ZN and P included.
Check out the 15w-50 in the attached. Good match for the 2F.
