Cam's FJ60 Gets Sprung

If your pedal goes to the floor, that's a significant issue. Hopefully the MC as it's a brainless easy swap. Funny, I went to AZ today and got another brake union to stick in the glove box. I can see a number of places where it would be helpful when improvising.

I think it's just some air. (We accidentally ran the MC dry once while bleeding.)

Our LX450 had firm brakes. Until I let a shop change some parts once. Then it had the typical sponge feeling.

I'll bet it is the ABS circuit that causes problems.

When I get the FF in, I expect it to have a good feel. There won't be an ABS loop or an LSPV to muck it up.

I hope to get started on that as soon as I get the carport back under control.

We were too excited to study every nook and cranny during the flex test, but everything looked good and stuffed nicely.

Congratulations Cam! Absolutely fantastic.

She's on the rack at the exhaust shop right now...

(Disregard the sign, I was climbing around under there with him trying to map it out)

those tires look shiny and new.....

I think other than our NV trip in the quagmire, think my next tire will be the new BFG ATko2

Got it back from the exhaust dude. I had him add a resonator to get rid of a sub-2000 rpm drone I was having. It's a little quieter, but worth it.

He used a power bleeder on the brakes, but there's still a problem. I'll try a new MC.

If I can get the brakes and caster tightened up I think we'll be in business!

Since you have drums, why not just use your old 60MC?

Then when you do the FF, upgrade to the 93 disc/disc no abs?

I thought about that, but am curious to find out once and for all if the 93/94 drum/disc & disc/disc/no-abs MC's are different. It could provide valuable data to 80 owners upgrading from semi-float to a full-float. If I get lucky, I only have to put on another master cylinder once :grinpimp:

What gear set are u ruining at present time? Are u good with that or plan to regear?

while not LC specific....its been my experience if you let the mc run dry....you might as well take if off or disconnect the lines and "bench bled" the mc itself....then re-install and go from there. Too time consuming trying to bled the entire brake system plus the mc.

and I believe there are specific procedures for bleeding with ABS systems.

As i recall I have a MC off a T100 pickup now, I'm still in process of seeing if I can get the 60 to keep the brakes adjusted on the rear...(ordered some more rear brake hardware from the parts king..)

I like the resonator....idea, I've considered adding one too. I've noticed the Tahoes and some other vehicles have them too, but most are made as part of the tail pipe on the new junk.
