Friends, I had the epiphany that my trips have evolved over the years where they aren't really Beach N Toy's trips where a few others are invited, they are my friends and family where Beach N Toys is invited. This changes the dynamic quite a bit. I should have been more clear but I did not realize that until now and so will keep that in mind going forward.

I will be camping end of July into early August and anyone who wishes to join, please message Coredawg if you wish to leave Thursday morning or me if you wish to leave Thursday night and stay over in Yermo completing the drive Friday.

thanks,

Frank

Gonna pass this year (again) as the dates are too close to our departure date for the Rocky Mtn Folk Music festival in Colorado.
That sounds awesome!

The Webster boys are a maybe. The dates conflict with Owens swim Meet of Champs. If he doesn't qualify we'll be there.

Hope he qualifies but also hope you make it.

We are in! Coredawg01 + 2 kids 1 wife. Last year, didnt we leave on a thursday to make sure we go a good spot ahead of t he crowds? Might be worth doing again?

That's a good point regarding Thursday departures. Unfortunately, for us, we can't leave Thursday. However, if anyone can, it would be a little added insurance that we can snag a nice section of the camp area.

Im game to lead the charge on a Thursday Group if anyone wants to join. We would also leave in the morning and aim to get to camp before dark.

Crew - I am going to lead a group up on Thursday July 30th from Escondido. Plan is to leave early around 8am and head straight to bishop for re fueling and last minute supplies. Please note, I have small children so our timing to bishop might be slow because of “potty” stops. Ideally we hit the trail up around 3pm. Please let me know if you plan on heading out with me so we can coordinate. Franks group will head up Friday and we will feed them the table scraps of campsites for being late. Jk. Kind of. lol.

'Preciate ya leading the Thursday charge!

Heck yeah - I will make sure we get a good spot! Planning on the same area as last year. I think that worked well.

That's the best area I found up there. I am sure there are others, and maybe this year we can spend more time exploring, but that spot can hold a lot of folks. It also keeps the kids sort of contained. If you go to the far (north) end, there is better sun exposure for solar charging of power stations and the likes.

A really great idea Corey! 👍 Count me in with the Coyote Flats "Team Thursday" Trailblazers 😊

Biggest consideration is wind in my opinion.

That's a big part of why we stopped staying at Funnel Lake. Among other things like being hard to get to, it gets insane wind bundled with equally insane cold. Where we camp is nicely protected. If it keeps getting the late snow and some rain we will have the lake in the middle this year.

Awesome! I will finalize all the departure details soon and send out to the group!

This is looking to be another awesome trip.

Corey you have inspired us to try to get there a little bit sooner. Being in 2 groups will likely make the driving logistics a lot easier so thanks to Corey for helping the lead the charge.

I will update the attendance list soon but the present plan is 2 groups. You can be part of either but Coreys will likely be mostly the mud contingent. Mine will be mostly the mudless, family, friends of my kids from school / scouts, etc...

The mudless plan is to leave around 6PM Thursday night and stop over in outside of Yermo for the night. It's a slight detour but one of our friends has a family lake house on one of the man made lakes with room and offered up the space for the night at just the right price. We will then hit the road Friday morning. It's a 3.5 hour drive so hopefully we reach Bishop around noon and are at camp by early afternoon.

I will cut / paste the boiler plate from past trips soon.

I've eyed these threads the past few years and have always wanted to make a trip up there. Any chance of a non group member/local joining?
Yeah man, we are always welcoming of fellow Cruiser heads. What would you be driving?
