You couldn't be coming to a better place to get a taste of the midwest. I just moved to Arkansas from Iowa last year (33 years)and I will be attending Tall Corn again this year. The wheeling is great and the social sceen ain't bad either. I'm in NW Arkansas if you need a place to crash for the night. It's 5 hours to Tall Corn from here so keep it in mind. We have a spare bedroom with a queen bed if you would like or plenty of camping space if that is your flavor. I'll PM my phone number if you are interested.

  • Day 4 Depart Kansas early and head uo to Knoxville Iowa I hope to arrive in the early after noon since its only 300 miles give or take set uo camp and have a Beer or Two. Hang out wheel, BBQ and enjoy life :beer::beer::beer:
  • Sunday will be departure day. Depending out how things go I was thinking I would come home via the nothern route Head towards Lincoln Nebraska hit I-80 and shoot for North Platte
  • After that things are still up in the air Iggie ( nuclearlemon ) has offered me a place in Denver Thanks alot but I am thinking I might push on to Grand Junction its only 500 miles so anyone in Grand Jct. with room for a tent let me know LOL
  • Thinkng of pushing on to Las Vegas and spending time with the kids relax and then I am just 4 hours well maybe 5 from home
PLus the fact I have been getting Pm's from people along the route offering assistance in case of break downs. You folks Rock

The trip sounds way cool.

Maybe it's time for a MUD hostel forum.

Random thoughts.

Where would you get the notion that an old FJ45 could make that kind of voyage?;p

Ask me on Saturday and I'll give you some extra ear plugs!

I don't suppose we'll be seeing any YouTube videos of YOUR average vehicle speed!

You will be pleased with the mileage increase on the 31s. I got my best mileage ever when I ran 31s.....17!

From one incurable cruiserhead to another, let me tell you this: by the time you get back, you will have an unbreakable bond with your 45. I will be VERY interested to hear the ideas you come up with in the course of your adventure, and happy to share mine [some of which have been done to the rig] when we meet again at the 45 run. Then you will understand some of my choices better.

Best

Thats alot of miles Rob. Take many pics while you go. Sounds like a really fun road trip. Hope it goes well and be safe out there. We will be waiting for a long story about it when you get back

Eric

Sounds like a fun trip. Not sure exactly how you are going back (all interstate or scenic route?) but im an hour south of Omaha in the southwest corner of Iowa. If you want a spot let me know, there are a couple short scenic bypasses through the loess hills on the way through the bluffs that look amazing through the summertime.

Well, I'm too far north in Iowa to offer you a place to stay, but it will be great to meet you and D'animal. (Lets hope for no more rain than what the farmers need....) Great people, great cruisers. How can you complain about that. See you on aug. 22nd. :steer:
