closed chamber and open chamber are the main differences, domed pistons would contact a closed chamber head and an open chamber head would have lower compression with flat top pistons
there was thought years ago about taking .1"?? off an open chamber head to help the compression with flat pistons

Jim C had pics that were just linked to in a thread in the 40 tech section showing different heads side by side, not sure I can find it tonight.
 
Agreed Paul. Most people deck the head 0.100” or so to bump the compression back up. Unless this is your daily and you need to fix it ASAP I’d wait on a good donor head closer to your year popping up. Machine shops around here are backed up forever.
 
I have a complete 1987 2F in my pile of things to be dissembled for art purposes. So I don’t really need the head. Not sure if it’s shape as it’s still bolted up. Truck sat for a couple decades before it got re powered with something else.
 
I’ve got 100 series front seats. They are tan leather. Functional and complete but leather is worn.

what kind of condition are you looking for?
 
Preferably running and driving…not really looking for a major project. Garage queens are ok, but not my first choice. Stock or slightly modified is preferred.

I'll have a 2003 for sale shortly, maybe in 2 months, mechanically good, cosmetically not so much. IIRCC about 225,000 miles, first year of the 5 speed auto
gold with tan interior
not sure on a price yet.

Anyone have a spare 2f head sitting around? I just got the phone call that the one in my ‘85 fj60 has a rather impressive 4-5” crack in it. If not it might be time for that 2fe I’ve been sitting on.

On an unrelated note, if you’d like an 80lb paperweight that looks convincingly like a useable 2f head… I just might know a guy.
I have loads of good 2F heads. Let me know if you still need one.

If you've still got these, or if REZARF picked these up for his 40, I'd really love to do a test fit on my 40 and see if this tire size would clear in the rear of my 40 with my current suspension setup.
