Built, Expedition, fj62 for sale $10,000

Sad day for me but I have come to the conclusion financially that I can no longer afford 2 land cruisers so I need to sell my trusty fj62. it is without a doubt expedition and rock crawling ready. I daily drive this truck and have since I have owned it. The completion of my fj45lv has put this trusted wagon on the block. Most of these upgrades have been added after I had twins and my wheeling expedition time has shrunk considerably down to one event a year  I of course wanted my limited wheeling/trekking to go flawlessly and virtually wheeled my cruiser to have everything it could possible need.. God knows how much I have into it when you factor in labor but here is a brake down of the upgrades and extra parts for the fj62

- truck is locked front and rear with fzj80 rear e-lockers and wired to a fzj80 locker switch on the dash. And wiring is from the stock harnesses and wired to a control box that is mounted in the dr. side rear quarter panel
- the rear is a 94’ fzj80 axle with e-locker full floater and disk brakes
- the front is a stock 88’ fj62 front axle housing with a 97’ rear fzj80 e-lockered 3rd.
- long fields
- sky wideing kit on front axle to make the width the same as the rear fzj80 axle
- both axles are running Yukon 4.88 gears
- both axles were rebuilt with new Toyota parts and have less than 6,000 on rebuild. Nothing was wrong with them at time of rebuild just figured while I was in there I would put new bearings seals and gaskets in.
- the stock fzj80 rdb e-brake assemble was used. And the cable is mounted to the fj62 handle
- Brakes stock booster with a 94 fzj80 Master cylinder and Willwood manual proportioning valve.
- OME heavy 2.5” lift suspension on all 4 corners with anti inversion shackles OME shocks in front and Bilstein 5100’s in the rear. Rides very nice
- 1” bodylift enough lift to clear the 34” tires while not getting the center of gravity too far up
- 34”x12.5”Interco Trxus Mt’s with 65-70% tread left on fzj80 16x8 Al. Wheels this is a great tire wheel combo, these are the quitest Mt’s I have every heard
- Tradesman full raingutter mount roof rack the rack is made for the fj62 and is 4’x8’ it was sandblasted 1.5 years ago and epoxy primed then eastwood chasis black then Eastwood satin clear. New rubber window channel added to mount feets.
- Safari snorkel
- Upgraded H2 and H4 Hella bulbs in Hella housings with upgraded (tangean)
- headlight wiring harness.
- New tierod ends 06 and Bud built tie rods 06
- Man-a-fre 4plus U-bolt flip kit skid plates. These are the nicest ones made

Body Armor by fox fabrication

- Arb bull bar custom altered to fit warn M12,000 there are also high lift jack mounts added to back side of bumper and a top bar added as well.
- Warn M12,000 winch in decent running order needs to be serviced but works fine cable is in decent shape I was planning on switching too synthetic rope but just never got around to it . but the cable is in decent shape.
- The rocker panels were cut out and 2x4 box steel was welded in for sliders and a rockring added that acts as a step as well
- The sliders rock ring is connected to the front arb bumper by treesliders also built by foxfab. These are bolted on at both ends which make for easy disassembly.
- Rear bumper was a many staged construction. As it sits today it has a trailer hitch dual swing outs one with a tire and one with a ladder. The ladder has mounting fto attach a hi lift jack The rear quarter panels of the truck have been trimmed and there have been quarter slider protection made from 2x2 box steel that extends under the quart panel forward to the wheel well. On these sliders are tree protection hoops. These act as steps up to reach the roof rack as well.
- On tire carrier there is a mast that holds a reverse/wrok light and a 3’ firestick cb antenea
- Hella F1000 driving lights on the arb bull bar

The Body-

- the body is in decent shape. There are some press in dents on the rear quarters the the passenger front door had the section right at the handle pressed in by a branch. It has been pushed out but it is not perfect. My plan was once my other land cruiser was done to pull everything off the fj62 and repaint it. Any rust I have cut out and replaced with new metal so really it just needs to be sanded down and repainted.
- the truck originally came from Califorina so the rust was pretty minimal there was a dent in the passenger side rocker panel and instead of banging it out I just replaced before rockers with sliders. The bottom of the rear quarters were a bit rusty so I chopped them down and added protection. The passenger side doors had some rust in the corners which I chopped out and replaced with new metal.
- I have painted the lower half with black Marine Deck Paint in order to protect from road rocks and chipping after a repaint I was going to tape off and spray with clear bedliner/rhino liner.
- The stock mirrors were replaced with Austalian outback mirrors from SOR these mirrors feature a concave mirror which greatly improves rear visibility while being smaller
- Rust hole on the lift gate but I have a immaculate lift gate in the basement that would go with the truck.
- The rear wheel wells had the typical rust starting at the top .it had rusted through on the drivers side I cut this lip out and welded in ¼” bar stock which gave me another 1” of clearance and added a lot of strength to the wheel well section of the truck.

Engine

- the engine is the stock 3FE with 223,000 miles on the odometer. While the milage is high the engine has been well maintained and baby-ed
- the throttle body has been bored out .3mm by RC Engineering 06
- the injectors were cleaned and balanced by RC Engineering 06
- Man-a-fre ceramic tuned headers
- 2.5” stainless steel straight pipe to 2 ss catalytic converters to a ss dynaflow muffler to 2.5” ss straight pipe out the back. $1100 exhaust system not including the $500 headers
- parts are only preplaced with genuine Toyota parts here is a brake down of some of the parts that have been replaced and when (approximately)
- cold start injector 08
- cold start switch 08
- circuit Opening Relay 08
- plugs/wires/cap/rotor 08
- radiator 08
- water pump 08
- fan clutch
- air intake hoses 07
- engine mounts 06
- starter 08
- alternator 07
- fuel pump 07
- brakes 08 will need new rotors in front next time the pads need to be replaced
- oil changed every 3 months regardless of mileage with a big Toyota filter and Amsoil synthetic 10w30
- Amsoil gear oil in both diffs and transfer case
- AC swtich to R134a each charge lasts exactly 2 years
- wranglerNW dual battery management system
- optima red top primary and optima yellow top aux. batteries
- aux power terminal for aux. power items.
- Mechanical oil pressure guage. T-ed so the stock electrical gauge works as well
- Cig lighter poer outlet next to battery

Transmission

- This might prove the only issue with the truck. 2 years ago I replaced the stock valve body with an extreme valve body from wholesale automatics in Australia . while the extreme valve body had the effect of adding a turbo to the fj62 it slips when you first turn it on and start driving until it warms up. It usually will slip abit for the first 3-5 minutes of driving and then stops. While annoying it has not gotten worse over the last 2 years of my driving it every day 5-6 times aday. And is usually only an issue in the morning or when cold. My next upgrade was going to be either an extreme transmission from Rodney (which the valve body could be used as part of the trade in) or an h55 5 speed. there are over $1000 in parts that could be resolded out of the auto tranny set up if you went with a manual transmission.
- I have also added an auxiliary B&M tranny cooler and the Rodney temperature kit that adds a sensory off the cooler elbow. And reads on a nice autometer guage mounted inside.
- I run Amsoil torque drive tranny fluid. And have done the Rodney flush yearly for the last 4 years.
- the transfer case has been taken apart and rebuilt a couple different times once to Add the MacNamara gear( an Australian gear used to replace the separate drive gear spacer and pto gear in the fj62 transfer case into one gear thus enlargen-ing the are on the shaft and its splines that the gear has contact with.) at time of install my stock set up showed minimal where but it was a 3fe gear bash party so I changed it anyway., once to replace the speedo cable. But this split case is in excellent working order, and has been well taken care of.

Interior

- the passenger front seat has an SOR seat cover and new seat foam.
- The drivers seat is new 08 seat from Iron pig offroad. Very comfortable and nice. Plan was to switch the passenger seat over to one as well.
- The rear bench has had the bottom cushion altered so it is easily removed with quick release pins
- All seats of tan SOR tough duct seat covers on them.
- A pillar handle’s and B pillare handles added
- Hj62 roof consul and visors. The consul is not installed but would go with the sale . it has an altimeter and temp gauge.
- Led replacement over head light bulb less power and bright as day when used.
- JVC double din cd/tape aux/radio stereo with Ipod jack on front of stereo. also a 12 disk changer under the drivers seat.
- Speakers in the front doors as well the rear panels and a bazooka sub woofer is in the back.
- The stereo system is a bit outdated but works well.
- Dynamat extreme sound proofing has been used on t The insdie floors /walls /doors/ and tailgate 3 full bulk packs used
- New carpet kit from SOR 3 years ago.
- Brand new Wagon gear tailgate lid
- Brand new Wagon Gear rear side panels
- CB radio mounted in dead space under stereo
- 3 extra power outlets inside 1 in center consul and 2 in dr. side rear panel . great for the fridge and other electronics in the back of the truck.
- Ccot rear cargo mat think and tough makes it that extra layet to take the hard floor soft enough for sleeping on.
- 4 pin trailer plug wired.
- Outside inside temperature guage installed.
- The back windows are tinted

I am looking to get $10,000 obo
a quick addition of the market value on some of the bigger parts is way over that. I would rather not part it out but do have the garage space to do so if it comes to that. If I do go that route I will repost this in the parting out section with prices for the listed parts . but until then I only want to entertain offers for the whole truck. PM or email me at fj6202840 at yahoo.com with questions and or requests for any other pictures.

some of the body armor that was fabricated by foxfab4x4.com

sliders and rock ring. sliders are integrated into the rocker for strenght and clearence. I built this cruiser to have a low center of gravity and thus the raised sliders in the rockers help with ground clearence

next 2 shots show the rear quarter protection and the trimed rear quarters.

That is one nice rig, I sure wish I had the extra cash! From your center console pictures I noticed those strips, are they One Touch Ultra?

thanks GLTHF60 will have to wade in I geuss

RS41AB I drove through Bristol 3 times on the 19th looking for the best deal on a pink and a purple bikes, but while Bristol is very nice i don't get up there as much as I used to. if I have the time I like to go through Bristol to go to Providence.
cheers Jason

Hate to say it but you've picked the worst time to sell IMO.

If you can, wait a few months. People up our way aren't even thinking about camping / expeditioning.
West Coasters are too worried about the state budget... :D

Seriously. Wait til March 1. Bills can't wait. Or can they?
Hell, this is a killer tax return purchase for somebody who can't get all $10K ( you shouldn't sell for a penny less ) from a bank.
I figure you've got a rig that'd cost a minimum of $15K to build on one's own labor and you have 10,000 views in this thread and can't sell it for $8K.

Good luck, nice truck. Side note, I saw one damn near identical to it in MUNISING yesterday!! Told the G/F I had goosebumps and if it wasn't 3 degrees outside she would've gotten out and walked home.

i could wait but i figure to go through a round of eBay and see what happens. selling it would fund finishing the lv stereo winch steel for a rear bumper and roof rack, sliders. while it is not as imperative I sell it like it wa for me a few months ago. a raise fixed that. but i just don't think I am made to take care of more than one cruiser at a time atleast not the same type of cruiser. type meaning a wagon daily driver. i could see picking up a fj40 or 45lpb/troopy project.

gas prices are the lowest they have been in 5 years and all those people who traded in there big trucks for smart cars and the like are wishing they had a second car that is able to get them around in the winter mess (like today here). so i don't think it is too early for a market for it.

yours is still my favorite troopy out there. if i make it to Michigan again next summer for vacation i will definately make it a point to meet up with you and yooper.

i took some clean interior pictures this morning was going to try and replace some of the ones of fleabay but will posthem here instead.

also the subject of a Mud discount came up seeing how I do not flip cruisers or sell my chit very often this is all a bit new to me so as far as a mud discount goes since it is on ebay i can pull the ad up until 24 hours of auctions end so in order for me to do that i would want a certified check/cash for $9000. that is a grand less than the buy it now on my ebay add.

OK, so the auction ended, but did it meet the reserve? I hope that guy didn't get it for only $7,000...that would be too much of a steal...

SOLD

yep he did a 1000 less than I wanted it to go for but it sold none the less. if it didn't sell it was probably going to go under the knife so its better this way. it was a great truck for me and I will be sad to see it go but its going to a good home to someone enthusiastic about using it.
