I'd take Lucky Charms over that any day.

Wow.. I don't know bud... I might even give up a 40 for a 406. That is one SWEEEET, tough looking rig... and room for 5 or 6! I can see it in the car pickup line :D

Had the opportunity to pick up a 404 reg cab with no bed in TN 3 years ago with a bunch of extra parts for 5K :bang: used at a private zoo in the MTNs the owner cuts and bales my parents property for the hay. Next time around I won't pass it up. I visioned something like this.

X2, when you don't feel you post has been seen and you want to bump it to the bottom just quote the post and type "bump" so its seen again. Its hard to find someone just selling one because they sell them in a set. Did you browse in the below area. I see a spare go for sale every now and then and sold a set of 40 rims there. You have to pay for shipping but if you get lucky you may find someone close and also try the junk yard in BR and NO and a member might be able to pick it up for you :)

I see you already found it.

cost?

5 - 6 years ago when my redneck roommate and I were looking at getting into them we found a guy in KY who specialized in importing them and getting retired military hummers. You could get a ruff one running for 15 - 20, restored they sell for 30 - 80 depending on the configuration and whats been done to it. He got into Broncos and I to Land Cruisers but its one of those vehicles I'll always want to get my hands on one. They are hugely capable and diesel :D

I did a quick search on Ebay and saw them from 5 - 100K

Next time I go to You Pull It yard in Lafayette I'll keep an eye out for one for your Toyota. I think they are $12.00 for a tire on a steel rim. They have a few 4Runner in the yard there ranging from 86 to 96. If the 93 I'm picking up Friday has a 16" underneath it you can have it.

Larry, Those MOG's are sweeet ! The 4 door would be a blast to have on a trip for all the gear you can carry and where it can go offroad.

Absolutely and a great family wheeler.:)

Had a Mike siteing this a.m. about 7:35 a.m. at the light on Pinhook/Verot on the way to the office. He was in the 80 :D

Cole, Isaac, Ricardo any of you know a good mechanic shop or engine shop in the NO or Mandeville area you trust to do a engine swap on a 95 FJ80? We were contacted by Howard Hardee who blew his head gasket and caused quite a bit of engine damage on his 80. 300 + miles on it and he's looking to do an engine swap and is asking for our help on resources. If you know of anyone please let me know and I can give you his contact information or pass it on to him.

Thanks,

LL

I know a machine shop in the warehouse district that rebuilds all kinds of engines, incuding huge ship engines. One of the techs there is a landcruiser head who was doing a frameoff restoration on a 67 and did the engine rebuilt at the shop himself. They don't do swaps, however. Have him email me and I will dig out the name and phone number of the shop and the guy.

Also, there are more than several engine swap services advertised in the greater N.O. area in the Yellow Pages, but I do not have any experience with any. I would think a straight swap would be as good as the condition or quality of rebuilt done on the replacement engine, though.

I don't know of anyone in the area. Wish I did.

Larry, I just remembered something,

My buddy did a swap on a 96 and put a 95 motor in it. It did not fit right and they had to take the motor back out. Might want to pass that on to Howard. I dont know why it didnt fit and my friend is out of the country for 3 months. Marve Spector even thought it would fit. He sold him the motor.

Follow up FYI. :wrench:

Heard from Mr Howard today and his 95 80 is back on the road after the head was reworked and gasket replaced. I asked him if he could tell us what he had to spend in case it happens to someone else.

His note:
Found a local shop (Auto Tech in Covington) to rework the head and replace the gasket - runs great

Follow up email from Howard on cost and his only complaint about his 80's. Brakes.

Head work and gasket replacement cost $1,443.00 at Auto Tech in Covington. The local Toyota dealer wanted $4,300.00.
I've got around 270,000 miles on this one and the only complaint that I have or have ever had about the Land Cruiser is the frequency and cost of a brake jobs and the fact that I have to have the rotors replaced every other brake job. From my experience, not just any shop can do a good brake job on a Land Cruiser. Cost for brakes and rotors on front and rear is about $1,100.00 at my local Toyota dealer. I have had the brakes done at other local shops, but they could never get them just right. If you have any suggestions, I'm all ears.

FYI.

Dennis Cotton (Property owner Sicily Island) called this a.m. and said he was updating the calendar and wanted to know when we were planning to come for a visit and he'll put it on the calendar. He said they were having a good crowd Memorial weekend if anyone wanted to go then. I told him to definitely mark us down July 4th weekend and I'd like to break free in June to head up for a weekend but would let him know a date if we have anyone else going. He cut some new trails one through a creek and needs folks to ride them and make adjustments.

He was working on the website and just posting pictures from last year. Here is our visit in Sept he has a good bit of us.

September 1st weekend area 2 001
