You have a monkey wrench, a hammer and a length of pipe. What other tools could you possibly need!?

I see that you are finished, but do not see any pics...

I live in an apartment...I feel your pain!

X2.. luck you no sun but no rain .. try to do that down here in october ..

I just got a set of 4 of these for $100. Still staying under budget. Judging by the specs they should work with 35-37" tires and my 3.5" lift.

Also removed the front sway bar and brackets. Yes I know all the pros and cons of removing the sway bar. I will be keeping the rear and modifying the brackets for the lift.

so, you don't trust your jack stands, go ahead and use them, but when you pull the wheels, push them under the truck. They are out of the way, and they are thicker than you are. *just guessing there* if the truck does take a hop, you have a story to tell.
Same trick works on the side of the road changing a tire. toss the spare under the side of the car until you need it, pull it out, toss the flat under until you are done. that way if the wind blows too hard and the jack falls out, you still get to drive off without flattened hands.

Springs

I love the DMV lot use... and those FOR springs look super stout. Any pics yet?

I have those shocks on my 80 and they work very well.

good to hear on the shocks. Ill get some pics asap, still raining here. Should be able to finish the lift this weekend.

Yep. I live across the street.

Heh - I know the area well - lived in PB / Mission Beach for 10 years - lived in the apartments across the parking lot there for a month or so before moving to Portland.

I've friends that live within about 4 blocks of you :D

That's the DMV I passed my driving test at when I moved to the US :D

Working on your truck in the Clairmont DMV parking lot... priceless:hillbilly:
I'm surprised the SDPD, didn't send out the SWAT team.

X2 on throwing a tire underneath the truck when jacked up, cheap insurance

Chop the rear x-member. I did it a few weeks ago and I haven't looked back.

I like your approach, BTW, kinda what I'm doing with mine. I might chop off some roof, ala Slee's Vlakvark...

rear crossmember will be gone soon. Just need to pick up some metal from the metal shop. Going to weld in a new crassmember right at the bottom of the tailgate and build my bumper off that.

OEM shocks after almost 200k miles. I could compress them with one finger... bye bye:
