We are going to spend a few days in Breckenridge and plan to drive some of the easier trails (gravel roads) in the area. I saw this thread Paintshield 5720 to prevent desert pinstripes? Update: It works! DIY & Review and bought a gallon of the Paint Shield 5720 just in case. My question is, are these trails really tight where I need to worry about brush scratching the sides of the vehicle? I initially thought I would just paint the stuff on and go, but as the date approaches I am wondering if it's really worth the hassle? Thanks in advance.

If you go, there will be pinstripes. It's just the nature of nature. You can try to steer around them you can go slow but you're going to get some.

They're really not that bad. Honestly depends on which trail you take. Ive been all over that area and the Buffalo Peaks wilderness. Which trails are you hitting? I may be able to help. There are a number of us from Colorado on Mud.

Pinstripping = great memories from the trail.

Get the book from Funtreks. It has lots of trail info.

Thanks for the replies. I haven't really decided which trails to drive, but I would like to take my group up the Mount Antero Trail. I backpacked to the top of that mountain years ago. We took 3 days to get to the summit, and there was a jeep trail up there. I swore then that the next time I would drive. So, my intention is to do just that. Tonight I'll coat my LC with the paint shield stuff, and maybe the LR4. I'll pick up the FunTreks book if I come across one while we are out there, it looks like a nice resource even if not for this trip. This is really just a trial run to see if my family likes this sort of stuff, not an off-road trip per say. But, hopefully we have fun, because next year I want to visit Utah. I had my first look at Utah this year, and now I want to visit. Here is one example of what I flew over. I have no idea what it is, or where, but it looks cool and is probably a famous landmark.

^^ Looks more like Mars.
I agree! I think I spotted the four corners area and it wasn't too far past that. But it was before Page, AZ because I stopped there for fuel. I had never seem that part of the country, but I would like to.

@rcork I was going to say that looks a lot like Marble Canyon, but like you said, you weren't that far yet. Following a straight line from 4-corners toward Page and it was easy to spot your picture's features at Monument Valley:

FerrisBueller, You are good! I did see the Mittens area out the other side, but I don't have pictures of that. I did figure out we had crossed over monument valley as well as the north end of the grand canyon. It's a beautiful area that I wish was closer to home. If I just had access to a C-130 to haul my truck.........

I've been using Meguiars Scratch X 2.0 to remove scratches. It indeed works and I've taken out scratches with it. I think their line of products is the best. I suggest using that to remove scratches. They have a toll-free help line. I've used their polish, paint protectors, wax, etc. and have had incredible results with them.
