That wasn’t the kick board area. Just below the other switches.

Wow, that would have been nice! I ordered mine directly from redarc. Something must have changed in those couple years. Mine is a 2018 Luxury. The blank was wide enough interfere with the other two switches if I remember correctly.

Brake controller works great... Glad I spent the extra money. We use both modes a lot around there with the mountains.

I ordered everything from Redarc - screenshot of my order confirmation attached. This is the only brake controller I've ever had so I have nothing to compare it to, but it is awesome. The proportional adjust feature lets you dial in how much braking you want in the trailer and you can dial it in however you want.

I already had the Lexus pig tail (was in a bag in my glove box).

Make sure you wire and out it exactly as Redarc install instructions state.

I have the switch in my box of parts somewhere, I really should get around to installing it and buying the controller itself to finish it out. The only thing missing from the system is the ability to manually surge the brakes yourself like on most HD truck trailer brake systems. From everything I've read and heard from users, this is a fantastic setup regardless.

That's very similar but with a sliding surge switch the user can apply the amount of braking they want manually. This unit will let you apply the brakes manually by pushing the button but only on/off to the current setting.

I've had it sitting around for a while now but I've realized that I don't tow anything with the GX that has electric brakes so I'd really be wasting my time. That said, I might as well get around to it, who knows what kind of trailer I could end up with going forward.

It does have a manual surge. Snippet from the user manual.

Yea I guess you could push and turn the knob at the same time but that's still not modulating them via a slide switch.

I’ve had good results with Tekonsha over the years.

The Tekonsha P2 I just bought came with pigtail..$100

Tacoma or GX 460

Here's a P3

Since I haven't seen anything wiring-wise different for brake controllers the harness by ToyotaLandCruiser above should work with 10-13 models as well.

Did you see a need to install a diode since the luxury has adaptive cruise control? I’ve seen articles that mention the diode is needed in order to avoid feedback but haven’t had much luck trying to determine how to wire. I’ve got the diode coming but didn’t see any mention of it. I’m also installing on a 2018 GX.

I have a 18 luxury and didn't install a diode. However, I don't think I have adaptive cruise control.

If you have links to those articles let me know. That is the first I have heard of that report.

It was information based off of an install for a 2020 4runner with the adaptive cruise control and crash avoidance options. Link to the video below. There is mention on the Redarc website that the diode they offer that was purchased, which is also below, is needed for vehicles with adaptive cruise control to limit feedback on the circuit.
