Hiya!
After watching y’all, lurking and testing the waters with a few post (thanks for the help btw) I am finally starting to make my LX my own. I have owned my LX, Lou-Ann as she has become know in our house, long enough to learn many quirk and see what I want to modify. It’s time to make some upgrades to things that need done (read: sliders) and some other upgrades that are maybe a little less necessary in the strictest sense.

Some background on what it is we are dealing with, what has been done, and what the plan is right now. Lou-Ann is a 2008 LX570, black exterior and grey interior. I am notably missing the center console cooler which I am not sad about. The front bumper cover, where it attaches to the quarter panels, does not clip well. The running boards have been hit a few times and are night on the list to be replaced. The rear bumper is, well, a long story that may get into in a future post. One of my biggest gripes is the lack of power points. For 2008, they did fine, but for today’s standards, work needs done.

What’s been done:
- OEM wheels are gone, replaced with Tundra take-offs and K02’s. The spare still needs to be swapped out.
-Third row is out. If anyone is interested, PM me.
- Headlights: Low beams are HELLA H9 2.0TB (Amazon.com - https://a.co/d/fxoD4jP), High beams are HELLA 9005 2.0TB (Amazon.com - https://a.co/d/76J9LlY), and Fog Lights are Baja Designs Squadron-R (Amazon.com - https://a.co/d/j7l8Gbu)
- Ceramic window tint, 85%, on all side and rear windows (by Denver Auto Shield who I highly recommend)
- Ceramic paint coating (by Denver Auto Shield as well, followed up by spray top ups)

What I am planning:
- Slee Sliders w/AHC guards and lights
- HAM Radio install
- Power Upgrades (access points, switch panel, and/or second battery)
- Powder coat wheels
- Add 5th wheel to match
- Roof Rack
- Organization of some kind in the back

I have a few projects cued up and will be posting them shortly along with detailed pictures for anything I haven’t seen already on the site. The rest may not go into as much detail. Feel free to ask questions and make suggestions.

That’s all for now.

I recently decided to go with a GMRS Midland radio for my truck after starting with a Baofeng handheld radio that works with HAM and GMRS about 4 years ago. The ease of GMRS appeals to me for trail rides with groups- and I can still talk to club members that have HAM in their trucks and those with GMRS radios. The Baofeng handheld is difficult to use, but will still be in my truck as back up. What are your plans for the HAM radio in the truck? Any specific reason to choose HAM over GMRS?

I have a handheld yaesu ham and if I install a mobile I would stick with ham just because it offers more options for exactly the same install effort. I could see the arguments for both sides, I just like having more options even if it makes it a little more complicated to use.

Most of the folks I off road with are already on HAM. Plus, we can talk much further away than FRS or GMRS! I run Yaesu and Group Mode is pretty cool in groups because it gives direction and distance to the transmitting radio using GPS.

Sounds great. Thanks for the info.
