You can also have my old hood hinges if you don't want to mess with stripping off all that chrome. I bought new Toyota hinges but was kind of disappointed when I got them. The new hinges are stamped rather than cast. I opted to have them powdercoated since I didn't like the way they would look painted. The old hinges are yours if you want them.

Thanks, I may take you up on that offer too. I did look at some OEM replacements and they do look different than mine (cast vs stamped).

This is one of the best preserved 40s I have ever seen. The fact that it was owned by a 'normal' person and not a wealthy collector-type makes it that much more amazing. I actually use your post #2 as a reference drawing for how my 74 engine bay is supposed to be configured per Toyoda-san.
