My 71 beauty...
Picasa Web Albums - James - 2009-01-04 19...

Its got a 77 chevy blazer 350 in it. 2 speed ranger overdrive allows it to cruise pretty comfortably at 80!

Eventually I want to do a power steering conversion, steering's pretty loose right now and I'd really like the power. I've been told that classiccruisers in Salida CO has a nice kit.

I just got through taking the spare off (its flat, but at least it wasn't frozen on there!)

Some minor rust in typical places, surface rust on the frame. I plan to apply an undercoating to the undercarriage. I also plan to take out the rugs to sand down some surface rust thats on the floor pans and apply a rust inhibitor, what's the best product?

My rear heater doesn't seem to work, I don't know much about it, any tips to begin troubleshooting, (typical issues, etc.)? I also have that nylon gear for the rear window on order to get that going. The glass is cracked up pretty good, so I suppose I'll have to find that too....

This is my second pig, I had a 74 missed it so much had to get another, it was in better shape... I also have a 90 FJ62 :steer:

more on my 71 pig...

thought i'd mention:

When the PO had the 350 conversion done he put in the 4 speed toyota gearbox, (was 3 on the tree, (probably common knowledge on this forum;))). He also had disc brakes put on in the front.

My low-end 4wd doesn't seem to work. I'd never seen the pull-out engager before, some sort of vaccuum or something? Anyway, with it pulled out all the way and the FD knob out, it still seems to be in Neutral.

Also, (this might be a stupid question:rolleyes:), but what does the CHG light indicate? Mine's on. It's opposite the e-brake light.:hhmm:
:hillbilly:

Thanx lilJohn!

That alien puke green is really growing on me! Must've been real popular back in 71!! ;)

What's it called, "Nebula Green"?

Sweet Pig! Mine is the same color. I like it. I also plan on doing a power steering kit. Great find!

thanks cork!

I saw your reply on the "rear window question" thread. Let me know how that goes, I'm curious as to a description on lining up the arms so they raise the window up straight...

Hmmm, the 4wd lever does pull from the dash right? How far does it pull out? It should easily pull out a couple inches, you may then feel a bit of resistance and then it should pull out another 3-4 inches. In four wheel low, the lever should stick out of your dash about 6 inches or so. Make sure you are pulling it far enough... oh, and of course, lock your hubs as well. :) The lever may potentially be disconnected from the linkage somewhere. Mine was rusted in place and a little lube fixed it. Follow the linkage to be sure...

As for the GHG knob, is it the manual choke? Where on your dash is it exactly? Hmmm.

Oh, and welcome to the sty!
Cheers, Carlos

pretty sure I still have the rear glass from Uglibus....somewhere.....let me know if you need it.

Ohhh, I think the 4wd lever may not have been pulled out all the way, it seemed to stop at about 3-4 inches out and I thought that was the end of it . I'll have to try to lube it a bit and pull it all the way out. Thanks!! (High 4 works great (with the hubs locked of course! :p))

The CHG is a red light, just below the gas and temp gauges to the right of the Pk.B (park brake i presume) light.

T: thanks for the offer on the glass, could you ship and how much would you want for it? If you're in CO i could potentially pick up. (Forgot to check your loc.)

Alright!

Congrats!

Being in Longmont there are clubs in Denver or Fort Collins if you want to join a Cruiser club...
