By 7 or so we were all together, awnings out. Eno's hung and Skottles were smoking.

Chance of rain had miraculously fallen to 5% so all the hoops we jumped through to get the cabin were for moot.

That said, this place that David Quirin owns high above Lake Dardanelle is unreal.

We stayed up late and told lots of lies and slept like the dead until dawn. At daylight a brace of grown men in jumpsuits driving 50,000 boats raced to the base of the cliff below us and furiously fished for bucketmouth bass.

I'm not sure anyone saw anyone catch anything.

Because of the cabin was small with one bedroom and Jerry had never exposed his beautiful wife Anna to this group of misfits they got a hotel in town. We grabbed some Skottle breakfast and hit the road to meet @Bomar and Jerry.

Super dad did a lot of this. He's got his kids eating his meat and fruit diet and it runs through them like a goose

The cabin was awesome Nolen. I do need to get the owners address to thank him. The lake had a bass masters elite tournament going on with a 100k
First place payout.. damn. I was more interested in the multiple boats bowfishing all night almost right below the cliff we were camped on , It's pretty crazy how they can light up the night and I like that pace a lot better, drinking a cold one, shooting fish with a bow, beats flying around the lake panicking if your gonna make that days cut.. but the pay isn't quite the same ;)

If Blaylock had not been such a slacker he could have gotten a cool ass shot of those bow fishers. I can't imagine doing that at my age. I used to not be such a pussy.

After stretching out legs at the falls we hooked a left at Car Wash Falls and made our way overland towards Glory Hole Falls

We decided to stray a bit from our usual plan this trip since we could not sit on the beach and eat for 2 days.

Andy picked us out some natural wonders to see. This required parking and walking. Of course since Andy is in charge of these things none of us asked many questions. We just parked and started walking.

No water. Cameras. Only one smart guy had a backpack.

We walked. And walked. And walked.

Once we got there luckily the people there faded away and we had the place to ourselves.

Dave walked up and saw the small flow coming out of the Glory Hole and said "you should see this when the water is flowing good"

About that time the bottom fell out. Huge rain. It was really amazing.

Unfortunately I had $2500 in camera equipment and no bag but the cave kept us dry until it lightened up enough to walk out.

Awesome experience.

We walked out in the rain and started north to the trail Blaylock had done on Thursday. It was smooth sailing up to the water crossing where we got out and scouted out our camp site for the night. Flew the drone and quickly decided 2:30 was too early to stop for the day

Here is a shot of the top of the glory hole, and the #EAF crew , yea when it's really rolling it's pretty incredible , several years ago I dropped a camera down the hole. funny how those trails getter steeper with the passing of the years

I was trying to film this less than epic watercrossing with my drone but I ran out of memory.

I had asked Jerry to take the 60 across so I could get a few pics of it.

I told him I needed him to get me a good splash.

I'm not sure there was a wave at all. I've never seen anything like this. Jerry has clearly never driven a rental car before.

Yeah fxxx those guys. Oh wait......

So it's 2:30 and The Real #EAF photographer had told us that we had to go see Hawksbill Crag. It was a quick run and a right from camp so once again we jumped in behind out Scout and Navigator and enjoyed the best road of the weekend. It was little used. Soaking wet and slightly technical at times. Our run up took 1:30

A quick note on Patrick's 4Runner. He recently began turning it into his primary overland rig. 49tire installed a 3" front lift and he and I added a 2" rear lift. It sits nice and level and handled the dips and dives on this trip much better than the #TAF trip

Deb was looking over my shoulder last night as I was catching up on this thread.

"That looks like the same area we went with Greg. What will it take to get Bessie in shape to go on one of those/"

"Deb we are rock crawlers. We will never be #OAF enough to hang with those guys..."

"Deb we are rock crawlers. We will never be #OAF enough to hang with those guys..."

Thats some heavy bull**** right there...

Seriously, I know work, BOD duties, crawl and other events dont leave many weekends, but yall would enjoy a trip like this especially as we originally planned it (chill out, drink beer, eat good food and watch the river go by and peel off for some light wheeling and trail riding).

Im not sure if most people truly appreciate that we are making fun of ourselves with all all the #eaf bull****.

That being said, we'll loan you some proper pants from the general surplus.

[QUOTEThat looks like the same area we went with Greg. What will it take to get Bessie in shape to go on one of those Deb we are rock crawlers. That's crazy talk , I'm old and 40 lbs overweight and in need of 2 knee replacements, I've hiked all my life and refuse to give it up, just go a little slower and enjoy the Scenery , you can't miss out on stuff like this. I have a 60 mile solo canoe trip next week, that I try to do a variation of every year.its not hiking but still getting out there

Yeah I drove a car with 230,000 miles, 5.5 cylinders and 100
Peak horsepower 800 miles.

Not the smartest move in hindsight and there will be more on this as the afternoon progresses.

That said, it made my experience all the more enjoyable but when I was in the final stretch and saw this guy in my general vicinity I visibly relaxed
