So, the story goes like this. My day job (that is keeping me from FJ progress) is getting ready to make a huge order of bolts to setup bolt bins. In this initial setup, the vendor will give us a huge discount because of the bulk purchase. So, this is an optimal time to order stainless metric hardware, as we likely will get about 50% off. So, if anyone wants, needs, some hardware, please let me know ASAP. I will need to know what size and length and quantity. Bags will be quantity of 25 or 50 depending on the vendor and the size. So if you can order based on 50, that would be great. I will try to post up estimated pricing so you know what you are getting into. For now, go to the MSC catalog, and figure about 40-50% off their prices.

Coolerman has a great link for you to see normal length and sizes on a rig. I also found this on FAQ:

https://forum.ih8mud.com/40-55-series-tech/76927-nuts-bolts.html

Erik got me started on making a "kit" of stainless hardware, that comes in very handy.

based on the list, I'm looking at ordering, when is the cut off?

I'll ditto robs list but double the # of Flat washers please.. I find those go quickest.
Please and thank you.

And just curious but your an accountant.. Are they BOLTING the tax returns together?
Jenn's starting a new job today that would likely accomodate such a request for bolts but never heard of an accounting firm needing nuts and bolts.. BUT I guess your getting to the nuts and bolts of the organization! :)

I kill me..

Kelly, I can pick up pretty much all of these and transport them to the correct individuals..

Thanks for the input.

Answers:

I have not looked at flanged nuts through them, but will get prices.

I agree on flat washers, they go quick.

Also, you may be interested in vinyl washers, as I used them quite a bit on painted surfaces.

For now, no committment, until I have pricing. After I shoot out number if you can then commit to the purchase with a yes/no, I will place the order.

As for accounting firms needing bolts.... you are correct that although we are nuts, I can't see the need. Actually, I left public accounting this last year after 17 years and have joined a local start up company to lead the financial arm of the entity. This is the reason that I have been quiet this year..... For those that don't know me, I have an addictive personality. (note the 5 cruisers in my field and garage should have been a hint) So, I have dove in headfirst into my role at the company.

Anyway, the point is we operate a plant here in KC, and the bolt setup is for our operations there.

That reminds me I need to talk to the other Eric about foam on tanks.

So, we have Rob's order:

1 to Rob
1 to Erik
1 to Chris
1 to Riverrat

Chris, if you are looking at replacing most hardware on your project, I will say that the M6 will go very fast! You may look at some extra.

Good point on the M6 quantities. Heck half will go to the hard top right off the bat.

M8 x 20 Qty 100

M8 x 30 Qty 50
M8 x 35 Qty 50

M10 x 30 Qty 50

M6 Nuts Qty 200
M8 Nuts Qty 200
M10 Nuts Qty 100

M6 Washers Qty 200 Flat & 200 Lock
M8 Washers Qty 100 Flat & 100 Lock
M10 Washers Qty 50 Flat & 50 Lock

It sounds like you are already committed to a supplier but if not, I could connect you with my fastener suppliers for competitive quoting. I buy the fasteneres for the Husqvarna plant in Olathe and we go through tons of fasteners.

Sounds good, I will pm my email address, then send both of you our master order list in coming week and see how competitive we can get. What is good for one is good for all.

Kelly

Erik- you want to upsize your m6?

Colin, you need a refill yet?

Just to give everyone what I paid before, when there was not a huge quantity discount,

For a M6 x 20mm bolt, stainless 18-8, my cost was about $.14 each.

For a m8x22, about .24 each. Just go down to westlake and see how much they are there each!

Well, I have a spreadsheet out to my vendor as of last night, and I sent it to Son of LC to run by his source.

I figure we can add to the order pretty easily, so likely order in next 7-10 days. I will report pricing to everyone for final go/no go votes.

I sent Chris a message, as I could not find his email, but if my order for Chris is correct, the first bid was high by $44 bucks. Will see what fastenall comes through with.

Kelly

The spreadsheet does not come through well, the first cell is the factor of a box, 100 per box usually. Second cell is the quantity of the size. Third is cost, final is the size.

1 100 $8.29 M6 x 10
1 100 $8.61 M6 x 12
1 100 $10.49 M6 x 16
1 100 $12.66 M6 x 20

0.5 50 $9.56 M8 x 16
1 100 $20.69 M8 x 20
0.5 50 $13.81 M8 x 25
0.5 50 $18.50 M8 x 30
0.5 50 $15.88 M8 x 35

0.5 50 $28.61 M10 x 30

2 200 $11.18 M6 Nuts
2 200 $30.07 M8 Nuts
1 100 $27.17 M10 Nuts

2 200 $6.05 M6 Washers
2 200 $6.44 m6 split

1 100 $4.03 m8 washer
1 100 $6.35 m8 split

0.5 50 $3.67 M10 Washers
0.5 50 $4.56 m10 split
$246.61

Finally got a quote from Fastenall. $191 for Chris's order, so 10% less than his best price. Rob, your order would be about $185.

So, with that said, who want's some stainless bling?
