Thanks Deny, I'm not interested in highlining steep stuff or yahooing around. But getting into back country and
getting out. Last long term work I had was with 1980's garbage up when we surveyed off Trutch Mtn for the new
Buckinghorse section. They were so bad, I just never thought of getting one again. Now, I see overnight
trips and just getting out there. Up where you are, the snow is perfect.
I'll look at those models. I can only assume that with fuel injection and modern technology you dont' have issues
with starting or lack of quality? I did know that long tracks help. Are you making your own trails then?

Most people are going the lazy way now with starters, I think the 850 have some kind of starter that doesn't use a battery to weigh you down? But even the pulling of these new sleds it is often just one pull to get them started and idling perfectly (unless it is super cold). Usually when I go into mountains I go with a group that often is with buddies that know what they are doing and where they are going, so no making my own trails (I prefer wheeling, just like getting out into the mountains to break up cabin fever in the winter up here). Around the property just tinker around and mainly give the dog a bit of a work out as she chases me around a bit ;)

Where you are is true cold. You still get it started at those temps? Wow, gotta love new technology for that.
I don't expect I'd ever use it less than -20C but just cause I dont' want to be out if it's deep cold.

This week had to go out for work and it was -25, actually had to take the summit cause we were short on sleds and had the other two tundras out as well. The white tundra and Summit started, but the red 2008 tundra battery must be pooched, but after a couple pulls it started too. For Fun I also don't like going out anything colder then -20, but sometimes you have to, and sleds are built for the cold. Although after -30 nothing really runs good and it often isn't safe to go out in the bush at those temps.

Nope, fond memories of off the bluff below Trutch at -52. I think we had the Nodwell then.
I was younger and tougher then, too.

I've been slowly walking through Bass Pro Shops, Cabela's Canadian Tires etc, etc. Sort of looking for something like this
rig. I think maybe a bit longer, but shallow draft low speed kind of thing. Could be stable enough to fly fish from all day,
smaller lakes. Not interested in salt water use. But I am trending towards this boat engine combo

You don't need anything crazy to get out honestly.
I have plenty of friends with $50k + jet boats and its not completely needed.
I have a list of reasons why I went bare bones.

I know a guy that runs a 30/40jet on a 13' jet sled and gets up just about anything he wants to go up.
How much weight do you want to haul should be one of the biggest determining factors.

If anyone wants specs on mine just ask.
