I hear that brother. Same here them damn bubbles are a pain in the butt. Went through two thermostats already thinking I had something wrong. Now I'm running no thermostat and it's working just fine. I've been through it all
yeah first time i did the tstat bottom hose from rad wouldn't get hot at all. i removed tstat, flusher out and ran without tstat and seems fine. so now i replaced i got the tstat in again we'll see sat when i fill her back up if the problem continues.

That's cool. So how was yours running without the thermostat? Mine was still pretty warm but it didn't feel like it was actually overheating but it wasn't pegged out. It was all the way to the hottest tick mark before the h but it never actually got to the last tick. I'm still worried. You know I'm going to keep burping and driving. See what happens before I do anything else? I did add water weather just to ensure the pump was lubed up. Good being that I'm only running distilled water right now.
Do you happen to have any temperature readings of the engine? All different parts? I'm actually getting a professional setup for my buddy of mine. He's selling me real cheap to vacuum fill the coolant so it ensures no air gets trapped inside the system. He told me it works amazing so we will see. It also tests cooling system for leaks as well.

I don't have any temp readings. but when i had water and no tstat seem fine. i drain water and filled with coolant last night and replaced the tstat and im back at overheating, my bottom rad hose doesnt even get warm. ughhh. going to drain and pull tstat again and put the tstat on a boiling pan and make sure it opens up, if it doesn't i guess i got a defective one.
i have the coolant kit as well, works great.

Oh man that sucks brother I'm sorry to hear that damn it that's what I'm scared as hell of too I really don't want to have the problem again with thermostats in but I got a feeling it's still going to be there and I still don't know what it is if it is there. I'm going out of town for work with the Coast Guard for about a week so when I get back I'll mess with it again and I'll have all my stuff ready. I'll let you know what happens. I'm going to test my new 180 OEM thermostat that I'm getting from cruiser corps and boiling water before I install it. But the OEM 190 thermostat I got from City racer that I had installed still didn't solve the problem and I did verify it worked in boiling water. So kind of at a loss deal but we will see. I will get back to you my brother. Good looking rig and like your setup.

Are you testing with a thermometer, so you know it's opening at the correct temp?

I am running only a thermostat with only distilled water and water water for troubleshooting purposes only. After I replaced everything. Radiator radiator hoses OEM water pump OEM 180 thermostat, I started having overheating problems. Not sure what's going on.

Is there any way to know if the water pump is working properly with the cap off of the radiator in the truck running should you see water rushing across the top of the radiator. I see no movement at all but maybe that's normal because there's no pressure really.

With no thermostat like it is now I can drive around fine no problem. But when I sit at idle it starts to creep toward the hot but it don't really get to overheating. So, it might be okay. Not quite sure yet. I'm going to put the thermostat back in and see what happens but I really just don't know if the water pump is doing its job properly.

One nice item to view and filter the coolant is the Gano filter. I installed one in upper hose and can plainly see when the Thermostat opens and flowing begins . That means water pump is working.

When the engine is warming up, I usually feel the upper rad hose or the top of the rad tank. When it gets hot is when tstat is opening, it confirms the water is circulating.

That's awesome! I've never even heard of these. Cool. I'm going to order this. In the system did you put it? Did you put it on the top driver side radiator hose that goes from the water pump to the radiator?

I just installed the OEM 180 ° thermostat and yes it is installed properly. Reinstalled my rebuilt power steering pump, pulleys etc. And my AC belt.

Yes, top return to Radiator. Can always tell when flow is big. I also live in Arizona so heat is much. Make sure when you order there is clear and brass, not clear. Also correct diameter.

What do you mean by

Does one come as a clear piece with a brass frame or something? Not just clear?

@1969FJ Is there any way you could send me one you bought so I don't get the right one in the right size? If you got it from Amazon, you should have it in your past history and be able to send me a link to The actual product. I appreciate it

I used the image from amazon. I bought mine years ago for SOR. I believe the hose size changed by model year. City Racer vendor can supply hose size and you will have to contact Gano for filter size.
