here, any light mounted above the level of the headlights are illegal. the cops do not bust for it but if they were looking for a reason to bust yah and tow your rig this is one they could use (unless covered with a light proof cover) that being said a couple cops i talked to said they would bust the person anyway even with the covers since the covers could be removed. i have not heard of anyone being charged but the law is in the highway traffic act.

i just love the look of a bull bar... once the trayback get finished then i might go ahead and build an aluminum one with a 8274 mount...
cheers

Techinically they could be illegal in West Oz too but the cops have told a local mag they will monitor their usage and allow them to be fitted on a common sense basis recoginsing that roof mounted lights are necessary for some peoples employment.
Basically if idiots start using them to blind other drivers then they will clamp down on them.

that was the problem here a couple decades back, idiots running down the road with the roof lights on. same thing witht eh spot lights that mount to the pillars, the poachers were using them to blind the animals and blast them so the cops put a ban on spot lights...

too bad it is the few that ruins it for the many...
cheers

Its illegal here, whats not in Qld.;p Position is wrong also could get done for''obstructing drivers vision' the only time I use it is in the back country on the dirt roads. I get 2 to shine outwards and the others down the road, good for picking up holes and washouts , no fun hitting them at speed. The red/amber lens cover for these is good for picking up cattle also. While back here on current events show they had a woman that got booked for having a small crystal hanging from her rear view mirror.Obstruction of view. She photographed the police falcon with the big radar computer/ stal car setup that covers up app 350mm x 300mm of the windscreen. LOL but that don't count. The commissioner would not cancel her ticket.:ban:  :grinpimp:
