Cut out old mount, I was using it to line everything up.

And with the shock hanging

So far I am loving how it turns out, but until I flex her I wont know if I clear everything. I have small window since my tires were rubbing on my old mount at full stuff. They are 12.50s and I will run 9s so that will help a lot.

fingers crossed.

Mike (yohavos) is this your troopie?

Yes sir! Was parked next to my buddy's JK.

I left the swap meet empty handed

Moving on!

So got the suspension all squared away for the most part, now its time to move on to the interior so I can go camping again soon!

Pics of the final bling.

So some unfortunate events happened, one I hurt my should/back real bad at work. I am freacking only 26 I surf, rock climb, backcountry hunt for weeks at a time, snowboard ect ect and I hurt my back pushing on a unit at work a everyday thing. Man getting old must really suck lol. So needless to say things are going slow, I am good enough to keep going to work just been taking it easy.

And one of the things I got out of was the first of the year lawn mowing! haha

The wife struggling with the mower, man she would kill me if she saw this.
IMAG0938.jpg

Also a few years ago my best friends dad had a stroke, well his mom is selling the house so I ask about his dads old tools. He said take them he would want to to go to a good home where someone would use them. Well his ice head uncle sold most of them but I still made out pretty good and told my buddy one day you may want this stuff back just let me know.

There are some old old stuff in this pile. Really cool, I love old tools and a lot of this stuff they just don't build like they use to.

IMAG0943.jpg

I also scored a old clark foam board shaped by Steve Seebold 6'5" glass tri-fin Man I can't wait to try it out my 5'9" I think is going to break every time I take it out.
IMAG0944.jpg

Well heading out to the shop, I think its 4runner day today.

Oh I also sold my 33" bfg kms and My 9.00r16 36's are on there way!

Edit:
I think I forgot to say I went with the 360/80 valving on the rear shocks. With the 30 degree angle it put them around 306? I think anyways, rides good but I think they are still a little soft with the 63" springs. Wanted to put that in there just for people searching in the future. 360/80 with a lot less angle would be good or the 400 with more angle.

But it does ride like a dream compared to stock!

Love the wife mowing pic!

Build threads are so much more entertaining when humour is added!

Keep up the good work man.

Haha Thanks man, glad to see people are checking in from time to time. I'm able to do half the stuff on here through a lot of searching. So I like to return the favor for people looking to do the same kind of stuff in the future.

I always would read peoples build threads and think Dang they never even get to drive their rig! what are they thinking?... well thats sort of true, by the time something is done and you drive it for a bit your on to the next thing. I love it, but hopefully this is the one with the biggest down time.

Next up for me will be rust repair and my gearing. But we are moving in 1-2 months and I have a lot to do to this house before renting out and a lot to do to the place we are moving in to so it will be slow going...slower going I should say.

Plus my buddies gears come on wednesday and we need to tear his axles down asap. I guess things go even slower when you are doing two builds at once.

Here are some updated pics of my real pride and joy, he is 3 1/2 months now

Also my as well put this up, I seen this today while at the hardware store. Bad aSS M37, man I love power wagons! PTO's front and rear, it was really nice job someone did on it.

Rust pictures coming soon!

Started on a little rust repair then got sucked in to cutting out my gas tank spout that has been sticking out ungodly far.

Lets get rid of these rust traps!

Ahh much better!

Very cool build, I hope you like bodywork more than me cuz my 60 will always be full of rust holes. I like the pic of the little guy chillin in the tires. I will have to show my wife that one as we are having a girl in 2 months and I keep sayin she will be hanging in the garage with me tinkerin on the truck.

Oh man, I can't wait for those days in the garage with my son. Being a pops is a blast, he is 16 weeks now and laughing a smiling and watching everything you do. So I am getting closer to him I feel now. Its hard at the beginning because all he did was sleep and suck on moms tittys, its the best when they start watching you and smile at you every time you come home from work.

LoL right now I can hear mom in the other room making noise and he is copying her, over and over fun stuff.
Oh and I am having fun with the rust, it ant so bad yet... I have never done much of it so I guess that makes it interesting.

So here are a few more pics of the tires and kiddo because I love pictures haha.

Man I am excited for these tires.

Here are some mocked up

Tore apart Nicks axles today and pull the thirds so he can take them in to his uncles and get his 5.29s put in. He already has lockers so there will be no fun installing those when he gets them back.

Got the wheels mounted and everything loaded up. Not sure if they balanced them right as I have a slight wheel wobble? or shake back and forth. Everything clears (turning wise) but I am barely clearing the drag link at the tie rod. I will order up some 1" spacers because I don't want to put excessive wear on my trunnion bearings ect with the extra bs I have.
I also checked out and tightened all the steering oh and I have a Q about caster I will ask after the pics.
I love it, it rides nice, I will be running the sway bar I think and just make some disconnects for it.

Here are my Two questions, I may need to ask outside my build thread for this.
First one, D rated tires max weight is 3040lbs (or close to that) @50 psi. Where should I start with the psi since I will be no where near 3000lbs. I was thinking running some chalk or something and starting at 45psi and seeing what are rubs first? it has to stop raining for that though.

Second Q, Can I measure off the bottom of this for caster? there has to be somewhere to measure with a angle finder. I don't want to take it to a shop.

I have 4degree shims in now and its reading 3 ish degrees so I can drop it to 7 easy or get some 2 degree shims and drop it to 5 which would be ideal and it would also put up t case and pinion flange at the exact same angle... which will be ideal as well.
Please chime in,

Pic, It seems like its the pivot point if the trunnion bearings are flush with them.

I love this build man, great work! The WVO tank location is genius and super cool:grinpimp:

1. Tire pressure is best measured with the chalk method. Don't waste your time guessing.

2. Yes you can. Either the top or bottom knuckle surfaces will work for measuring caster.

Keep it up:cheers:

Dude this thing looks sick. I can't believe how tall it is SUA

Tires are legit

EDIT

And I just realized its SUA front, SOA rear.

Sweet!

Thanks John,

Primed the wheels up and painted one of the to see if I like it. This is the color I want the truck to be and then either black, sliders, bumpers rack ect. Or khaki.
The wife HATES these colors. She wants it "shiny" clearcoat and blue or something. I dont want it looking like every other lifted truck these days I want it to look like it can be used!

Snowboard--way to go on your rig!!
Like the green paint touch on the 'Diesel'--nice touch for making the 'Green' culture happy your burning grease.
Yes--fun to have your son in the shop someday; had my toddler in the engine bay when he was about 10 months or so, playing with sockets and standing on the frame rail with his head just above the radiator..that was 23 years ago....

Worth going 'slow' on a build to have more time with your family..then later they will enjoy hanging with you when you cruise and build.
Thanks for the thread!

Dude looking great but is that your engine that makes that god awful rattling when at idle... Sounded almost like someone using an airhammer.

And awesome conversion with the old VW tank, where did you get the idea for that and how much does the tank hold?
