Cool, I didn't really think I was missing anything.
BTW Andre, this is looking real good. And your welds are looking pretty good too. I am a self taught welder and still have a ways to go before mine look good. There strong but ugly. Anyway can't wait to see more. I always like your threads.

anyways, here is an update also.. Brian Steen (RidgeRunner, one of my good friends) stopped by for a couple nights.. We also ran down and got some awesome mexican at the Red Iguana with Kurt Williams (CruiserOutfit) tonight.. He is on his way back after a canyoneering trip in Southern Utah.. Here are a couple pics of his rig, Green FJ55 formerly belonging to Royal Rose.. Cummins 6AT engine, Ranger Overdrive, Toyota 4 speed to 3 speed case... 4" alcans, I think 32s.. Pretty awesome rig, I believe up for sale possibly soon too unfortunately

I was able to talk Brian into doing some work I have been putting off, drilling out all the spot welds around the roof, and also tearing down a 3 speed case I have been taking way too long to get ready to ship off to CruiserDrew...

I got the idea from Buckroseu's thread in the FJ45 section (possibly the most awesome resto thread ever) from his LV that he also did the same thing to remove rust/rot. 45LV's have a rain gutter/lip on all 4 sides, in the front of the 55 it is one piece so I used some electrical tape and a cutoff wheel to cut the front...

in the end I really couldn't believe how easy this was. Only took a couple hours.. 55's (as most of us know) are notorious for roof rot problems, partially because of the slope of the roof and partially because of the thick non porous headliner that prevents breathing. So moisture gets up there and stays there.. Moisture that builds up (condensation, etc) rolls to the sides and collects on the side. and creates the rust... So, I thought "preemptively," even though this 55 has no visible roof rot issues, I would sand blast, paint with zero rust, and do some other things to prevent from happening and stop any rust if possible...

of course I am super psyched I did, here are some roof rot pics.. Most of it is surface rust but some flaking and I look forward to all of it being removed!

Some arial shots. Also check out the front above the windshield. With the cap removed, you can see how completely paper thin it is up there. In the first pic I can easily rotate with two fingers if I wanted too.. If anyone saw FJBen's roll, really has me thinking/planning an internal cage.. Overkill and more $$ but figure I most definitely should while I am there...!
