Traeger, or one of the other brand pellet grills.

Real smoke flavor, steady temps anywhere from 170* to 350*or so, PERFECT for ribs, pork butt, etc. Overnight cooks are a blast, and you actually get a good night's sleep. :D

We even have our own forum. (I'm CJF over there too.):

Q: How can you tell a pellethead at a BBQ competition?

A: Besides winning, he's the one who's well rested. ;p

Those Traeger grills are expensive and the metal is about as thick as tinfoil. They just look (to me) to be pretty low quality. I don't want a grill or a smoker I can't leave outside or worry about it rusting away.

Just picked up a Weber Genesis last week. Got the stainless version and I hope to never buy another grill. The cast aluminum firebox is nice and everything is way heavier duty than all my previous cheap POS grills.

Cooked on it all weekend and no complaints. Burgers, chorizos, 3 tri tips, linguica and shrimp kebabs and all turned out awesome.

Great grill. I like charcoal, but for gas you could spend 5x as much and not do any better. Get a cover, take care of it, and like you want, it will last you decades, not years.

When we were building the house we looked at gas grills and the possibility of planning for a built-in for the back deck. I wasn't impressed by the quality of some of the high end appliance manufacturers offerings for $$$$ outdoor grills.

Bought a stainless kebab rack and plan on trying my hand at some fish tomorrow. Gotta tri-tip marinating and a rack of ribs to rub after that. I am so glad summer BBQ and beer drinking season is finally here.

Since you got it so cheap, go ahead and buy a few sets of the replacement guts for it before they're discontinued, and you have to patch it back together with s***ty universal parts from Lowes.

x1000

I think they're actually made out of painted rust.

I bought a "nice" stainless grill from Lowes a few years ago for my mom for mother's day. Within the first six months they had it, I was using it at their house, and cranked it all the way up to burn some old grease off of it. I guess it got too hot inside and cracked every single burner. This grill was outside, but it was covered. Long story short, the replacement burners cost about 80% of the cost of the grill.

wow, really?

you would had been better off going on craigslist and getting a used Weber. you can pick them up for $50-$75 and they fxxxing still rock. I picked up a Silver Series with a side burner for free then changed the guts out...$120 for a new weber grill....

when I first fired it up, I cranked it and closed the lid to burn off whatever might be in there... according to the hood thermometer, it was up around 625 degrees...

well, geez... guess I can say it does not work, throw it in the truck and return it...

however, my last charbroil lasted for 11+ years with one gut and grill change.

did not look great, but it was a hot cookin' some-bitch.
