If you have two different phones that use this unit, will it automatically pick which ever phone is present or must a change in Phone be manually selected?
I only have one phone. I always keep it on auto connect to the nifty city. If you connect it to the factory it messes up the phone calls in apple carplay. So I really can’t answer the two phone issue

But I would think if only one phone is present it would auto connect to that. It connects to the nifty Bluetooth for phone and a WiFi network for wireless car play. Which doesn’t impact your regular cell data either, phone works as normal

Sounds good, right now I have Nava plus and when my wife drives, she needs to select her phone to connect. Now if she gets in again, it will auto connect. And then when I drive, I need to switch it back over to my phone. And then it will auto connect from there. It would be nice to have a unit that would automatically search for every available phone rather than only for the last used phone for auto connect. That’s what I’m trying to figure out. Maybe I can contact nifty and see if they can clarify this for me.

Ended up installing Beat Sonic. Eric was great to work with and they just upgraded the programming so sound and phone go through the OEM Bluetooth, a big improvement.

I've had my beat sonic for 18 months, bluetooth used the OEM Toyota interface then too, so I don't think anything has recently been changed

Im very happy with Beatsonic system, it’s seamless to operate and is controlled via Bluetooth.

What happens to the existing Aux port next to the gear selector?

Thx

Installed the Beat-Sonic. Should have done this sooner.

Shout out to Eric at Beat-Sonic. I needed a little noob installer help on Saturday and they were all over it.

Thanks!!

I hate to bring this back from the dead, but has anyone run the Beatsonic USB cable to the original location on the shifter console? If so, did you just use a female to male adapter and run it to the factory location?

There are adapters that can connect the piggyback car Place system into that plug if you want. That’s what I have done.
Can you elaborate on this? Did you pull the original USB from the shifter console and replace it with the Beatsonic USB cable?

Beat sonic can connect to your phone via Bluetooth and it also can connect via a usb connector that you can place anywhere in your dash of on a blank switch location in your switch area.

Mine was originally wired this way by the installer and it worked fine. Unfortunately I’m unable to tell you how it was done.

I think from what I’ve read GROM Vline is the most seamless but in exchange for trying to be fully fully integrated it does have its bugs.

The positive is that they are based in the US

Constantly improving the interface and ironing out bugs and consistently come out with updates

Customer service has been very responsive to me. I’ve seen posts to the contrary. But from my experience I feel like a beta tester as any issues I bring up they look into it and it is fixed in the next release.

3 years ago was probably 90% bug free and functional.

Now think I’m close to 97% bug free.
But as they add more features and improve inevitably there is an occasional glitch.

There is an adapter I purchased that plugged into the factory harness under the cupholder if I remember correctly. And then it connected to the USB plug on my CarPlay module. That is how I was able to use the factory USB port to connect to CarPlay if I choose to. I would have to go back and look at where I found that part. I know I linked to the part from one of the posts on one of these CarPlay threads on this forum.

I bought GROM Vline for my 2019 last month and have nothing but problems. Screen goes black every min or so and come back on and when someone calls while I’m playing music I pick up the call and then it won’t start playing music again. Did the software upgrade and still having bugs emailed the company yesterday and asked if I could return it. Customer service has been almost zero with some text back-and-forth advising me what to do..

Wow. Even at the worst my GROM wasn’t even close to that.

I just got an advanced copy of the firmware and I’d say i haven’t had any buggy things happen. Which makes me say it was 97% stable and now 99% stable. Super quick boot up too.

When i email them I usually get a response from heath and he has been very helpful and responsive.

Did you do the install yourself? You might need to check the connections. And I think there was one thread of a person that checked his connections and noticed a pin was bent which was the cause of the problems.

Has anyone attempted the 16.3" upgrade?

I've seen it available from a few sellers on eBay or direct from Nifty City.
