It hasn't yet. Been on graveyard shift and it's pretty tough to take it across town for the install. Thankfully, I'll be transitioning to days in a week.

Ok I’m thinking same unit so let’s keep thread updated as I may get mine next week

@Crush 4 and @Union - did either of you get this done with the Viper - how'd it go?

I got mine done with Compustar instead of Viper. The local Toyota place recommended them over viper due to being a little better compatibility wise with the ECU.

Copy. I got the opposite advice from my installer and went Viper. So far so good. Big increase in range, timer out to an hour, feedback when shutting down, everything the K9 needs. It’s cool with the wallet key as well, no need to carry 2 fobs!

Interesting. All of my remote starts are done through my phone. The OEM fob also works.

I''m following and wanting to add a remote start. What Viper and Computstar models did each of you get? Thanks

That looks nice. Does the Viper interface with the OEM fob b/c I prefer just one fob?

Compustar Pro G15 here. Installed a few weeks ago. Really enjoying it so far. Also using it with the card key.

I got one of the first 200 kits from Accesorides since my buddy did a install on he youtube channel. At any rate here are the instructions i wrote up for them. It works great other than turning off with you open the door, but the OEM would have done the same.

Hey Guys
Just picked up another LC 2019 left over in Magnetic Grey and no remote start ... Luckly winter has been pretty easy on the greater northeast .
Remote was not the deal breaker but was a bit disappointing . Left over 2019's are drying up in the PA/ NJ / NY area and around here every dealer has black or white heritages .
I don't know what Toyota was thinking , heritage is a cool concept for a single guy with no kids and dough to blow . No remote starts in any of those either .
I for some reason thought only option for a Land Cruiser base was the Entertainment package , not the case the remote start is a option .
I was not impressed with my previous LC the remote starts worked as most have said not impressively .
I like the OEM aspect .
I bought this LC 2hrs away in NJ they told me they could do a OEM for 600 bucks . Not sure if I want to drive it back there the NY/NJ traffic is insane .
Any new plug and play options availible latelly , I know this is a older post .
Any one know if you can lock your LC with the Key while its running ?
I could be fine with having a real key cut and just start and lock ... I have done this with Tacomas ...Just keeps everyone honest .

Any dealer can install the Toyota remote start. You probably can too. It’s just a plug in module that’s behind the glovebox IIRC. However - The OEM remote start sucks. The range is terrible (I can’t even get it to start in my garage from my house, and that’s maybe 100’), it’s a one way remote, it runs for a max of 10 minutes, and it shuts off the truck when you open the door.

I had a Python (Clifford/Viper) on my ‘08 Acura which had solidly half mile range, 2-way remote, ability to program things like the defroster to come on, adjustable runtime, and best part was I could enter the vehicle and insert the key and drive off without restarting it so long as I didn’t touch the brake pedal first. Oh and it was $350 installed.

if you can find an aftermarket setup, by all means get it instead.

Just picked up a grey left over 2019 , I'll wait and see whats going on with this potential fuel pump recall and if the 2019 has to go in the shop for that I will most likelly just have them do the OEM starter at the same time .

Does anyone know if the Compustar systems are plug and play on a vehicle like the 200? Or, during installation, do they need to cut and splice the main wiring harnesses??

I have a compustar system in my LX with cellular connectivity and I dread the day I have to chase down electrical gremlins should it start to act up. Is it an easy removal?

Compustar is NOT plug & play; splicing is required. I had my installer take photos of what he did - there was splicing into four or five wires in the driver's footwell area. Simple job, and easy to remove/debug if ever needed. Don't worry about it.

I have a compustar and it's not plug and play but being able to remote start from my phone is legit.

I installed the MPC Complete Kit from Amazon for $110 on my LX. It uses the OEM fob which is great. Still has the factory non-functionality of turning off when you get in the vehicle which I don't like but completely understand the reasons for.

Installation took me a couple of hours altogether and most of that was just taking my time while removing all the necessary trim so as to not scratch or break it. The official shop manual was extremely helpful to indicate where all the clips and screws were. I also purchased a cheap set of trim removal tools from Amazon and wish I'd purchased those 30 years ago when I first started installing car stereo equipment in my Ford Escort LX.

The only real challenge that stumped me and I worked around was the splicing of the wires. You are supposed to strip the wires in the middle and intertwine the wires and/or solder them together. The wires you trying to strip and splice into are extremely fine gauge and sometimes in very narrow and difficult spots. I was very concerned about cutting the wire altogether accidentally. So, I used the T-Taps which I personally have had success with in the past but have heard some doubt about.

All in all, very happy with the price and the install was completely problem-free and should be for most people, as long as you follow the instructions. It took me only two attempts to program the system and that was because I didn't follow the instructions correctly the first time.
