You guys who undertake these re builds amaze me, where do you get all the info you need to strip it all down and rebuild to factory settings, things like setting diffs up with the correct tolerances etc. Looks really good, we cannot get the tray backs here, appear to be sold lots of other places though.

Good luck with the rest of the job, and thanks for the pics.

I see you got a factory radio/cassette. All the aussie ones had that except mine,I just got a radio:D
Has that got the K085 or K082 Diffs?

Its getting there,as long as the frame's clean, much of it could be revisited without too many problems.

This one has the K085. I actually pulled the factory radio out and put it in my troopy for know.

I did not realized how close the Troopy and pickup are, same exact frame, usually features are the same as well.

Cheers,

Michael

I guess if I was new at it, I would be lost but you have to realize most of the guys that are doing this level of work have been working on cruisers for soo long and have done this soo many times that things like setup axle geare we can do in our sleep. Even when it is something new (this is my first TLC P/U) there is so much that is simular to other Cruisers it really helps the job.

The only real blueprint I have is this picture of my P/U before I got it;)

No good traybacks here in the US for these, luckily I have the original bed and it is in great shape.

Thanks for the compliments,

Cheers,

Michael

Did you strip down the car in the last pictures to re-build it all from the ground up??? if so, may I ask, why?

I bought it when it was already disasembled, I was able to get a picture from the previous owner of it be fore disasembly.

For a moment there I thought the 75 was in your back yard with all those other Toyotas:eek:

update?

Sorry I have not posted pictures sooner. I really started moving on this project in Febuary, but then after a trip to MX and having problems with my troopy I had to use the 1hz to help diagnose my troopy problems (injector pump) and since then I have really been too busy and in the summer it had been pretty hot in the shop so I used my time elsewhere. Here are the pics from 2/2008, I am just getting ready to put the original front end back in and then I will be putting the front clip together, then rest of cabin, then bed will go on.

Cheers,

Michael

Your getting there. Is the engine ready to go? What was its original intended market, its not the USA:D

The Engine is all set except for some new fan belts and the wiring (which I am replacing). Ok, I will probably put a turbo on this one as well  this 75 series originally came from Middle East, I wanted to do a left hand drive.

Cheers,

Michael

I finally had some more time to work on the 75 series. I got the front axle in last week, as well as putting back on the split rims for now. This week I was able to finish up the front suspension, get the brakes all bleed as well as the clutch. I took care of the steering lines as well as hooking up the shaft, put in the front rad housing and most of the stuff bolted to it.

I now I am getting close when it was time to pull out the remaining body parts and hose all the dust off them :)

Should have the front clip complete by the end of the weekend if all goes well. Here are some pics of the progress.

Michael

Work continues on the pickup. I remember someone telling me how much they hated taking off and putting on the front fenders on a 7x series (I think it was Wayne), and know i get it more than ever.

In preparing to put the front end back together on this after it has been sitting around for several years, I was a a little woried because when I blasted and powder coated the frame I noticed that the front right mount had been fixed, probably an accident with this at one point, they did a pretty good job but knowing it was not perfect and putting a used Cruiser back together with some new parts like body bushing kit I thought I might have a hard time, and of course I did on the first fender and then I learned a few tricks.

So for those of you that already know this, thanks for telling me about it :p But seriously here are a few things that I found to mike life easier.

Always bolt up the firewall side of the front fenders first, it is far easier to mess with the front lower mount and cross member radiator bracket than trying to ge the 8 or so bolts lined up with the holes.

I found the template I created for the factory snorkel works great, I was hoping to weld some nuts on the backside of the fender to make it more like factory but the thought if disassembling the fender further to get at one of the holes change my mind, and I found that the snorkel was not in my way :)

They are great vehicles.
Having a relatively new model that can be totally disassembled with a wrench is a rare thing these days.

Does the windscreen frame stay up on its own ,or does it need something to hold it there?

Not sure I understand the question, but the windscreeen stays where it is no problem, it can not fold back toward the driver any more because of the stops at the base, and then two bolts hold it down in place, pulling it the other way (when the bolts are not in) it is stiff but will stay where ever I put it all the until gravity steps in when it is almost horizontal.

cheers,

Michael

nice 'sand' tires...

Yeah those stock tires are growing on me, only problem is they are pretty warn out and on the roads around here I think it might be a problem :frown:

they have tubes in those splitrims, man are they heavy. It is interesting to note that this "sand tires" are what came with this truck when it was new and what they run on the streets in Dubi all the time.

Cheers,

Michael

Thats what I wanted to know. I thought the windscreen might move forward all fall back without the roof .
I suspected those 2 bolts were to hold it up ,but I wasnt sure
