I've heard talk that Southern Beverage will have trucks ready to roll with new offerings as soon as the end of the month gets here. I suspect those will be beers from Abita, Boston Brewing, Sierra Nevada, Rogue, etc. who have beers that we can't get, like Abita's Abbey Ale and their Save Our Shores or most of what Rogue is putting out elsewhere.

I bet it will be a while before we can get harder to find beers. But I hope it's not too long.

Heard the same thing. Southern Bev rep told me the catalogue they sell out of here is the same as everywhere, meaning vendors are already familiar with their offerings its just now they can get them all.

I may only drink Chimay for a month.

Rogue and Sierra Nevada both have several respectable brews in their lineup. Certainly a good start.

I'd be willing to bet no outlets in Laurel will be stocking craft beers. Probably have to travel to Hattiesburg for a decent brew, unless SHUSH decides to open a beer emporium in Laurel. ;)

no but dad and I are discussing how some of the finer brews would do in our stations.......we will see, not sure Jones county folk will reach for the good stuff when they can go over the top with BUD LIGHT or COORS!!!

You and your Dad own service stations in Laurel? Which ones? Will you be offering a CLC discount on gas and craft beer?

Sitting on the porch enjoying an Avery Maharaja Imperial IPA in honor of the new MS beer law. I think Spivey would approve...:D:beer:

It'll be interesting to see the changes in beer stocked after 7/1. In Texas, Sam's has just started selling craft beers by the 6-pack, for around $6. Not a huge selection, but decent. We can buy cases of Sierra Nevada brews for $22 at Costco. They frequently have Dogfish Head 60, for $24 a case. I wonder if demand in MS will be high enough for Sam's to step up to the plate and stock craft beer in bulk. I'd think potential sales to Tolleson and Bodean alone would justify upgrading their selection. ;)

We own shell stations and some unbranded in laurel. Airport road, 4 on 16 avenue. Yada yada. Talking to dad and my sister tonight about which beers to test on the "free state" first.

I have a feeling if we gave beer/gas discounts to CLC we would go under. But I could maybe hit up the old man for some frrebies for the crawl (jeff remind me about that)

Man I hope we get some beer from Great Divide after July 1. This one is a great Belgian ale and 7.8% ABV.

Cool bottle and decent brew. Can't wait till July 1 when I can get high gravity brews down the road instead of in the next state.

I spoke with one of the managers at McDade's yesterday about the new beers and when they'd be coming in. He said that some of the distributors are uncertain about demand, so they're going to move slowly. We'll get a lot of new Abita and Rogue offerings, and he mentioned Abita's Save Our Shores and Abbey Ale specifically.

I put in a plug for Chimay, and he said he'd look into getting it.

The Fortification location (that reminds me of Conjunction Junction) will have a new gondola of shelves for the added beers.

He also said most of them are going to be bombers rather than six-packs at first. That's how they rolled out Fat Tire in Memphis as well. Seems like standard practice to gauge demand in a new market.

That's the latest. Cheers.

Sounds like a good start. Hopefully it won't take long to evolve to this point...

Has anyone picked up any high gravity beer yet? I've heard hops and habanas was pretty picked over.

I've bought the following from McDade's: Abita Abbey Ale, Save Our Shores, and Jockamo IPA, and Rogue Double Dead Guy and John John Ale. Cheers!

That all sounds good except for Jockamo. Maybe it's better at the source, but I thought it was lame, a "C" IPA at best.

Question. With the new beer law in effect, will Magnolia step up the potency of their brews?
