Hello everyone....thinking of getting new wheels for my 94. Beadlockers are not intended for highway use. Do you run them on highways and how strict is the hwy troopers when you encounter them. I understand that if an accident occurs the insurance company would have a field day if they find beadlockers installed. What are you guys thought , thanks

A couple of my close friends are running 38 inch Dick Cepeks on beadlocks under their '80s. They do not see a lot of road use. Mainly just to the trail head and back.

I know of a couple few guys running beadlocks on Toy trucks. A bit of road use for those guys, but still not dedicated daily drivers/solo vehicle type of use.

None of these guys have ever had an problem. I am not sure that most LEOs would even notice. Or care. Not here anyway.

The only insurance adjusters I know personally are vehicle enthusiast themselves and I am pretty sure they wound "not happen to notice" unless it had valid bearing on whatever incident was resulting in a payout.

I've run both Hutchinson rock monster DOT approved beadlocks and KMC beadlocks. Tons of highway miles, no problems. There are so many faux beadlock wheels out there these days I don't even know if cops would be able to tell or care.

Hutchinsons are super heavy but bombproof. KMCs balanced really well. The biggest headache for me has been the time commitment of mounting my own tires and finding a trusted shop that can balance them. A lot of big tire stores won't touch beadlocks.

Imho, beadlocks are for a specialized kind of driving - like crawling. My 80 is used for multiple purposes (like most folks). Presently, I have 2 sets of tire/wheel combinations: M/T's on steel wheels and A/T's on the OEM alloys. I've also toyed with the idea of beadlocks. Considered replacing the steel wheels with beadlocks for the M/T's. That way I can go nuts for the best performing beadlocks and not be as concerned with highway performance. Not that big of deal to swap tire sets for the use that is needed. But like it's already been mentioned and since I don't own any tire changing equipment, getting the tires mounted on beadlocks and living in a remote rural area, it would be quite the challenge to get it done. Lately, until the price of fuel comes back down, I'm not so motivated to do this.

I went Icon Rebound Pros because they are street legal. Have not had any issues with them. I’ve only been on a few trips, but 3 days on the Rubicon was one of them.

I ran beadlocks for 15 years on multiple trucks.
Never an issue with anything. Cops don't care.
They drive fine on the hwy.
Not sure how insurance can do anything in an accident that doesn't have anything to do with a wheel or tire failure.
That said i don't run them anymore because i was sick of being the tire shop.
