I intstalled the Hellroaring 95300B in my 80 series. I couldn't find a another "new" product. Am I missing something? I would like to buy a another dual battery controller so if a later version is coming out, I'll wait for it.
On the flip-side, mobi-arc should consider a different marketing strategy. Better to keep quiet about a product until you have a real grip on the production dates. It's hard to spend all that money on R&D and supress the urge to not try and sell the thing, but look at the attitudes here in this community - a target market no less - lots of eye rolling going on. It's not like anyone here is going to hold off on their dual batt setup on the promise of "two more weeks" when there are perfectly applicable substitutes, and the overall perception you've created for yourself is: "Over promise, under perform." And that's not good.
I agree with you. The product sound promising, but they should have kept their mouth shut until it was ready. In the computer industry we call it vaporware.
Just jumped into an internet cafe. On vacation this week but the guys are building encapsulation moulds all this week. Anyone want an update, give them a call. 858-720-1339
Holy shiat! That's some serious cash for a unit with decent capacity. So much for Scott's assurances that this would be competitively priced. Definitely out of my range, especially considering the low amperage ratings. That's a bummer after all the hype.
Glad I bought a Blue Sea ACR (p/n 9112) instead. Big amperage rating, and it was $100 on eBay a couple weeks ago. If I want to run the winch, I'll run it through my $20 Blue Sea battery switch that is rated at far more amps than any of the automatic options...
All that aside, I'll be interested to read spressomon's review in a couple of months!
I just instaled the SUrepower battery seperator 1314-200. It is rated at 200A continious, which is pretty good. Uses a simple solenoid switch to connect and disconnect the batteries, and very simple to install. I like the automated functions it has to disconnect and connect pending on battery and charging condition. It also has a manual cabin switch capability to force the 2 together for starting assist or winching assist. Best part is a solenoid switch has virtually no losses, same as manual switch. Will see in the future how long it lasts.
Hard to beat for $150.
I still use the stock battery for the main, and a small Odyssey 925 as 2nd batt. It is more than enough for secondary loads. I still need a front bumper to put in a winch, at which point I will probably consider upgrading the main battery.
Somehow I still prefer KISS over complicated systems.
My concern with the Mobi-Arc combiner is that it still has losses and it looks like it has very little heatsinking even for 19W or whatever the claim is. More heat = more loss on Mosfets = even more heat, dunno will have to see how they do in the long run. Also MOSFETS dont like shorts too much or being overloaded for even a short space of time. Has anybody shorted it for a short time to see what happens?
