It was an early start today. I was up at 4:20 with my new little newborn girl. So I took a look at Craigslist and seen this Lil beast. They wanted $1700 o.b.o. said it was running and the wifey wanted the truck gone. I went out just past 1pm today to take a look.

I pulled into the drive way as he was scraching his head, he couldn't get the trcuk running. Soooo, now I bought this truck. I think I got a pretty decent deal.

The only rust is the bottom of the box, or whatever you call that uni-canopy thing they welded on. The truck is really unique. Who ever did this conversion knew what they were doing.

I cant get the truck to run yet... But I have a strong feeling about this 216,xxx kms 2l diesel 4x4. Extended cab-uni-canopy. lol

The frame is 98% rust free. This will be a first for me. hahahaha! Body needs some work but I like sculpting so its kinda fun.

Dan even did an oil change, changed the fuel filter. Dropped the fuel tank and rinsed it. Put a new starter on and new glow plugs. I pressurized the tank with air to get diesel to the injector pump and then NOTHING. Lame!

Does any one know anything about these 2L rotary pumps?

Ok so that picture of her under carriage looks a little bit rustier that real life. I promise:) lol Well its the god dam nicest frame I've ran into.

Nice find.
If you have fuel to the filter and your sure it's full crack all the injector lines at the injectors and start cranking her over it should start after the lines start blowing fuel out off them so quickly do them up.

Yes I have cracked all the injectors and turned it over at least 100 times. I have fuel at the IP but no fuel getting to the injectors.

I was just wondering if there is a bleeder on the injector pump? I have bled many diesels and got them running. I drive a toyota 4x4 diesel as my DD. It has the same engine.

I even hooked up a 12v inline pump to give an extra hand but no fuel still?

Time for a compression test.

A friend had the solenoid in the injector pump die on his L. It was returning all fuel with quite a bit of pressure.

Have you put 12v to the pump?

Camshaft turning?

I did a compression test to find out # 1 and 4 cylinder had no compression. Took the valve cover off to see the cam not turning.

Here's the culprit. Ha! All the timing belt teeth around the crank shaft were snapped off.

23 bucks from lordco, here tomorrow.

I really hope this isn't an interference engine :/

Just looked the engine up an it IS an interference engine. Ah s***! hope there wasn't any damage? I will install the timing belt tomorrow and make sure nothing is interfering, do a compression test to make sure everything is good. Then I will bleed the injectors and fire it up. Crossing my fingers.

TURN IT BY HAND THROUGH 2 COMPLETE CRANK REVOLUTIONS MINIMUM to see if it's at least possible......you may have been lucky and it did the interference/strip the belt thing as someone was trying to start it and has done no/minimal damage..... with a new timing belt and if you already have bent valves it may make things worse... especially if it fires upon a couple of cylinders..... seems like you're on the pace with all this tho.....

Me too! Well the story is:

The guy I bought it from had it running for 5 mins. Took it out of the driveway, did a loop on the road and parked it. Im hoping that the teeth sheared as he was turning the engine off. Because the next time he tried to start it was with me when I showed up to buy it. Soooooo.... Like I said, crossing my fingers awaiting a call from lordco for my timing belt. Should be in around 9-10am this morning.

Im just glad the timing belt didn't break while ripping down the hwy at 3500 rpm.

I have a spare engine sitting beside my shop. And I have a full rebuild kit for backup witch came with that engine. I have a good feeling about this one.

P.S. I didn't pay 1700$ for this truck. Anybody feel like guessing?

I had a Cressida as my first car and that 7mge Brie the same exact thing at 60 mph. I don't know if that is an interference engine but everything was kosher after I had replaced the belt.

Looks like it is a no interference engine, splains why I was able to change the belt and go.
