Good to see you're still around, Dusty. I'd love to make it up there with you, have to see if my work schedule can allow this.

Bad news, My uncle-in-law invited me to the Pamona drag races back in July for this exact weekend in November. He bought the tickets before I had surgery so I can't back out on him. I'll have to miss this trip. May just go to SnT for Saturday and head back that night.

all is still a go. scouts are coming up friday eve. unless its real cold we make them sleep outside. Cabin is toasty for any wheelers. lots of room. im not sure if im taking the lexus or the hummer. if we dont have at leaste 5 other rigs going ill take the hummer as it can seat a pile of kids if i load them in back.

dad will have his sweet scout on tons
Doc warner bringing his TJ
a nurse from the hospital is bringing her new JK rubicon. she has wheeled the piss out of it-already destroyed a tcase and a dshaft. this chick is no joke...

What time should we be there if going up Saturday morning? Meet at the cabin to pick up Boy Scouts?

How late can we show up Friday night if that works out?

the scouts are following my tow rig up friday eve. we leave lemoore at 6pm and head up to the cabin. You can follow us up or come up friday night as late as you like. the next morning we traditionally leave the cabin at 830am and head up dinky to run bald. breakfast served beween 730 and 830. you can always take a plate with you as we drive up to dinky. no alcohol around the scouts and no alcohol the next day. no exceptions. some of these scouts moms are still pissed at me for rolling the 80 with their kids in it 3 years ago. But they let there kids come back every year...

i just pmed Don with my cell and the cabin address. anyone else need that info just pm me and ill give it to you. or you post up your cell and ill call u.

so far we have 5 rigs.

if its snowing we are still going....

I don't drink.

One of the guys from work is planning on being there with his 4Runner and maybe one or two of his buddies. I printed your last post along with a map for him. It also sounds like some on the Marlin board are planning to be wheeling Bald as well, so we should have plenty of company.

That is sweet news. Bring whoever. If you come up Friday night we have food and a big fire. Any wheelers that come get to share their own quiet(er) room(s) away from any scouting chaos. The rooms are large and have queen beds with attached bathrooms but if more that 2 people try to occupy a bed there will be spooning. I have some nice fold out cots but it would be wise to bring an air mattress to put in your room if needed.

I'll come up Saturday morning and have 3 empty seats.

We made it to the top.

With only a few mishaps along the way.

Doc Warner winched me away from the rails with a snatch block off this tree.

Positioning for the pull.

Sorry, I didn't get any more pics of that recovery, because I was driving. I did get some videos I'll be uploading, though.

The real fun occurred on the way down, when Dusty decided to play around on a big rock. Unfortunately, my camera's memory card was full, so I couldn't take any pics...

...Well, at least not until I got out a new card.

Notice the kicked-out windshield. Dusty couldn't wait for us to get one of the doors opened, he just deployed the escape hatch. :D

Again, I have some videos to upload, but Doc Warner came to the rescue for this recovery also.

Back on all fours, mostly.

Diving through the window to look for the keys. Looked all around inside, in the snow...and finally found them in his pocket!

It cranked, but wouldn't start right there, so we borrowed a strap from IMMUDDY, and I towed him down the trail. The downhills were fun, with Dusty's brakes not powered and my rig still in Low, till finally the Lexus overran the strap and we stopped. He tried cranking it again, and this time it fired, and made it to the trailer under its own power.

Videos

Just did a compilation of the vids of the flop. No sound, but you didn't want to hear my comments anyway.

:( That is a bummer to say the least...

sean and justin showed up like they always do.

this was one of the best snow runs ever. hard enough to keep us guessing and frustrated but not hard enough to keep us from the top. our crew broke clean snow all the way to the top. wicked good time. a dozen trucks came behind us 30 min later. bald mtn was a trafic jam. the fog up there was just cool

for the record i made it up that rock the first time. its a lot of fun with a little snow. if you can keep the front wheels pointed up the truck will skate around cooking the snow off untill it climbs. if...

the winshield was cracked after the flop and i would likely have been able to wheel it like it was. but we had to get the boyscouts out of the truck pronto. i have always wanted to kick out a windshield. it is much easier than i thought.

80 gets a makeover now. im torn between 3 options:
a. just chop the top, cage it, bob it and beat it to death

b. chop it, cage it, 4 link it, fiberglass tundra TT body

c. i like the most. reomove the body completely, find a newer body and plug in the harness. new again....then beat the piss out of it

another option im looking into now is running it in one of the new classes at the hammers this year before it gets torn down..

That would be a fun idea, since your racer is not ready yet.

Let me know as you pull parts off, I may need some of them.:cookie:
