My buddy and his wife and the gf and I are heading to Baja and thinking of going to Bahia de Los Angeles at the end of March. Anything we need to see on the way down there? Any other destinations in Baja Norte you would go to instead? I've gone to San Felipe and Puertocitos before but never anything south of there.

Another question. Since there will be 4 of us in the cruiser, what do you guys use for storage on the roof rack? Ratchet strap some rubbermaid containers to the rack?

Thanks,
Matt

Take a day trip to Mission San Borja. They have hot springs, the care-takers family is really nice, and they will give you a tour.
I believe there is cave or rock paintings near by as well.

Strapping stuff on the rack is an art unto itself. I would use ratchet straps. You don't want stuff flying off heading down Mex 1.

X2 on San Borja-Also if you can swing it Punta San Franciscito is a few hours south of La Bay - Awesome place

Thanks for all the info! I just ordered the Baja Almanac. Can't wait to get it. San Fransiquito sounds pretty amazing. I hope we can find enough time to hit it up.

San Francisquito had gas last time we were there- about 3 years ago. They have an airstrip and a small resort- run by one of Sal Fishes relatives so they love off-roaders. From there- you can't go much farther south along the gulf unless your on two wheels. Your choices from there are to head back to El Arco. You do go through some cool cactus forests. The Catavina area is also cool to hit up on your way back. The areas From El Rosario to Santo Tomas are real sketchy - would not plan any stops or side trips.

Just a suggestion- this November the Baja 1000 is a penninsula run so the weeks surrounding are a real good time to go down - lots of gringos roaming around and the federales typically back off and actually do their jobs for a change. La Paz, Mulege, Loreto, San Ignacio, Scorpion bay - All beautiful places to see and explore.

It's also fun to watch the race from remote places and then head back with the rest of the racers and chasers afterwards. The old safety in numbers thing is always good.

It's a Penninsula Run. I am thinking about racing Class 40 this year.

We're heading down to Gonzaga Bay tomorrow. The rest of the group felt Bahia de Los Angeles was too far. Oh well, should still be nice.

Any 'must have' spare parts you guys can think of that I may be forgetting? I changed out the PHH last night with that Samco blue silicon and expensive fancy clamps.
