think about a rear winch before you get to far along, I wish my bumper had been prepared for it when they built it.
at least put some of the preliminary work so you do have to do so much later on. just an idea.

i didnt consider a rear winch but it would be fairly easy by just welding a plate at the center with a couple of gussets as the bumper itself is strong enough to handle the load.


as far as rear winches go, my last rig had front and back winches and for self recovery, i used the rear one probably 5 times more than the front. however i'm hoping that this rig will just be for mild wheeling rather than anything that requires a rear winch. i would say the last trip we did would be the sort of things i like to do.


but on the other hand, the next rig will have supper dupper front and back winches. LOL

initially i was going to run one of these which is a real winch but i decided to go with the weigh savings as the extra pump and all the valves and hoses add up. plus summer is coming and i rather wheel than work on my junk.

so some of you may already know that cupcake got creamed shorty after i made the front bumper and sadly ICBC wrote her off. honestly i do miss her so i think i will get on it this weekend and see if i can get her back on the road for the winter as driving the 5 ton for DD is getting old.

thanks Rob. i was a bit pissed off at first as it happened right at the start of summer. thats why i sort of focused on the big rig as it was already on the road and functioning. honestly i think she can pass inspection with maybe just a tail light replacement.


does anyone have any leads for a 80 series driver tailight??

thanks. who is sheldon and what is his contact number. i already checked with Steve and he didnt have a lead a few months ago and i think you already said john is out too. isnt there someone around whiterock that parts out 80's or converts them to diesel or something? i would love to just get a pair or jobber new ones. dont really feel like getting OE parts when i just fxxx them up anyway.

thanks Rob. checked out his site. lookes like he has nice inventory. chilliwack is a bit far though. i'll see if i can come up with a bigger list of needed things or see if i can just buy a new jobber as the fuel cost may just pay for the new part.


i did get started on the rig. a mouse has been calling it home for a little while. he was a bit pissed with my intrusion. i'm going to miss the little guy though as he had cleaned up most of my mess.
