Hey Tmax
Recognize this ???

DSC09763.webp

ok got the 2 inch medium springs in with ome shocks. loaded the back up with 850 pounds of steel to simulate cargo and beer and she holds up very well. i managed to borrow one 35 inch tire for muck up and it looks good but still cant make up my mind between 33's or 35's. one way or other i have to get tires on monday before i go nuts overthinking this. anyone got any hints???? :D

couldnt agree with you more. its always 35's it is after a few bevrages but then i get up the next day and say wtf was i thinking.

If you are used to how gutless the 80 series is stock, then I doubt that you will notice a big difference going from stock to 33's or 35's...

I'm sure that your new OME's will eventually sag... coil spacers will help with that...

These 37's work well on the 80 series. I have been behind them for 4 Moab trips ...

i did consider the cooper stt but never in 37 as thats just way too big for a small rig. the debate is between 35's or 33's. ;)

i think i will be going with toyo mt's based on George's recomended source and the availability.

Ulysis????? you got one of these things too????:D

honestly i dont think the 80 is gutless at all. in fact almost perfect power band and usable torque curve in my opinion based on limited 2000km of driving it so far.

Well... since your set on Toyo's this is what it might look like with 35's and 4" lift...

subtract an inch or so it, and it might be what you've got...

Gutless is in the eye of he beholder... honestly, if you're not in a hurry, and you're happy with 19.0's at the 1/4 mile then go for it... my point is that 33's are only going to get you 18.75's :D...

Why fool around with underpowered 100 or 200 Landcruisers ??? - dump your slow Landcruiser get yourself a Hemi-Heep and get 1/4 mile times you can brag about to your wheeling buds

Or if you can wait untill 2015 -- the new supercharged 6.2 Hemi is slated for production with an estimated 480-540 horsepower - ideal for 3 hour expeditions into the deep and mysterious wildeness (e.g. around Stanley Park.)

thats a good looking rig. local?

the way i see it, i rather have a ballanced reliable rig than a capable one. the radios difference between 33's and 35's is less than 10% but that also translates into that much less breaking and that much more wear and tear on the drivetrain.

looking at the pic, to me it looks like its lifted too much. it also looks like it needs longer rear links or at least have them relocated to have the real axle line up with the body.

ofcourse lets face it. everything has its limitation unless its mog :D

back in the early 90's when i used to run toys, while everyone was moding things with webber carbs or even chevy v6's, i was very happy with 22r reliable power. the horspower game is great for the gravel pit and stave lake crowed but thats not my thing. i used to run a mog scaled at 12000 pounds with camping gear and only 90 horsepower.

yep its local... :D yes, I can confirm that 35' are harder on the brakes...

as for it being lifted too much... as its sits you're probably right, it could use extended arms both front and back... having said that most people who have 2" lifts end up having to add spacers to keep things cozy when running 35's... this particular vehicle will probably level out to something reasonable, once you give it time to settle out, and once you add a winch, and rear bumper swing-outs...

so I guess you've made up your mind then... 33's ;)

is that yours man? so how do you like the toyo's. the only exerience i have with civilian tires is bfg muds from 20 years ago. also would you do anything differently or would you say its perfect as we see?

yep that's my pig...

I've had different experiences with the Toyo's... on 15" rims on my Early Bronco they were fantastic (still are to this day)... on 16" lexus rims they are still very good... but If I turn down the radio, then I can hear them a bit... mind you, on my Bronco I hear a lot of things, but not the tires, its very old school that way...

I don't think that I would do anything different... as you get close to 4" lift I think that you will most likely run into caster, and possibly front drive shaft issues... I've had to deal with both, so IMO going with a minimal lift definitely has its advantages...

Your "new" OME 2" lift will most likely sit at 3" or so, which should allow you to fit 35" tires... as things settle out I would add spacers to compensate... and just be prepared to deal with possible caster issues at a future point, if you end up adding too much spacers...

As per the 33 vs 35 debate, to me these rigs just don't look right with 33's... the drive train can easily handle 35's... and as you know 35's are yesterdays 33's... having said that IMO they are underpowered, even stock...

its a game of inches... always has been... just saying :grinpimp:
