I have been wanting to do the same scoop on my early 79 series hood (same). I believe the Fiberglass Factory in AU makes both the scoop and the hood with the 79 series intercooler scoop built in. I have a topmount cooler, but it has a dorky hood scoop.

Frp.com.au sells the hood scoop hood and all sorts of FRP stuff for cruisers. All I know is strayans put bonnet scoops on everything. Too right.

I admittedly just focused on the scoop and didn’t see the “big picture”.

The pickup needs this badly! Door locks are really bad. This is for x2 fuel tanks but otherwise no worries. I am told this is the end for the 75-series lock & key sets too.

I just used the second fuel cap on the back to cover the spare tire winch access. This was how my 75 came so nice to have the added security all while using the same key.

No, but I do have my 7 gallon water container in that space now which is working great

The 1HD-T is a great choice! Well done!

Not sure you really need the hood scoop and intercooler and all that with the 1HD-T. Especially with a light vehicle like a 75 pickup.

My experience is that the 1HD-T stays nice and cool under the most extreme circumstances in Dubai in a 105. I did a mild turbo in a 75 series troopy with a 1HZ and it definitiely needed a hood scoop and external oil cooler, but the 1HD-T was used by Toyota in a bunch of trucks without any of the add-ons.

Every turbo diesel on the planet benefits from an intercooler if it does not have one. If it has one, a better one also benefits it even more.

Tomorrow we should receive a nice package from Aussie land for this Cruiser. Door cards and overhead console.

The Aussie aluminum bed is far along as well.

The 1HD-T was used in 80 series trucks from 1990 and General Market 100 series trucks from 1998 for land use, and marine and stationary power generation use through 2002.

And in both land use circumstances in markets where speed limits were 55-65mph (Japan, Europe, Africa, GCC, Central/South America).

They do poorly in regular use in modern 1st world highways at speeds averaging 75mph if not significantly higher— Especially in the intermountain west where driving 75mph is a safety hazard.

As Ian said, they need intercoolers in first world market use…. Especially considering the newest 1HD-T in passenger vehicles was 24 years ago. These engines were never meant to be driven how we drive modern autos without significant cooling investments.
