I havent heard of Zipppys. Damn I am cravin some good food from home right now.

I would have to agree the sushi in Reno is much better than back east. And the the Viet food here is good as well. The PHO777 is one of my favorites.

I tried Sinbads once. Never went back.

Pho777 is GREAT!!!
Its hard to get to in a pinch though...
Ive been hitting the asian noodle joint in the Costco shopping center!
Their #9 (what ever the hell its called) is LOADED with MEAT!
Went to the joint by the S Reno Target...SKIMPY on the meat and relatively pricy...
I work right by Golden Flower, so I can sometimes hit that place on luch if its not too busy!

FOOD IS GOOD!
Wish I were going to SnT 07....

I haven't been to Pho777 since they reopened, I gather it's still hard to get a seat?
Asian noodle is my favorite so far, I think it's the 44, charbroiled pork and egg roll. I tried the same thing at the place by target, lower quality meat and not particularly warm.

No...PHO777 is in the old Kim Son spot...plenty of room typically. But parking is a hassle. Generally no parking out front...have to park a block or two away...which makes it a less attractive choice for time-constrained lunch choice. Same great food though...and their prices stayed the same!!!

Phò 777 is the best. The shop by Target and HD is better than driving all the way down town but kind of meh as far as serving size and quality go.

I'm amazed they didn't raise their prices in the new shop. It's a lot bigger and nicer than the old place, the overhead has to be higher.

That was my problme with the Target joint...They really wimp out, and the prices are higher than the others!

Any of you guyz tried that L&L Hawaiian BBQ?
Im HOOKED on the Kalua pork plate!
Its not as good (of coure) as what you get in Hawaii, but IMO its pretty FWAKING good if you like the Hawaiian fare!
The also have "diet" friendly plates as well...Mahi Mahi, shrimp, chicken, salmon...
Julez really doesnt care for it much, but I dig it!

I cant wait to go back to Maui!

Bring it on:flipoff2:

Don't want to hijack this thread, but.......... is it worthy???

Mike probably knows who that is, and remembers this song.

...
And I, I walked over to the, to the bench there, and there is, Group W's
where they put you if you may not be moral enough to join the army after
committing your special crime, and there was all kinds of mean nasty ugly
looking people on the bench there. Mother rapers. Father stabbers. Father
rapers! Father rapers sitting right there on the bench next to me! And
they was mean and nasty and ugly and horrible crime-type guys sitting on the
bench next to me. And the meanest, ugliest, nastiest one, the meanest
father raper of them all, was coming over to me and he was mean 'n' ugly
'n' nasty 'n' horrible and all kind of things and he sat down next to me
and said, "Kid, whad'ya get?" I said, "I didn't get nothing, I had to pay
$50 and pick up the garbage." He said, "What were you arrested for, kid?"
And I said, "Littering." And they all moved away from me on the bench
there, and the hairy eyeball and all kinds of mean nasty things, till I
said, "And creating a nuisance." And they all came back, shook my hand,
and we had a great time on the bench, talkin about crime, mother stabbing,
father raping, all kinds of groovy things that we was talking about on the
bench. And everything was fine, we was smoking cigarettes and all kinds of
things, until the Sargeant came over, had some paper in his hand, held it
up and said.

I recognize the song, "Alice's Restuarant", great song. I just didn't recognize the picture. Is it a picture of Arlow?

More importantly..."I wanna kill, that's right, I just wanna kill.":grinpimp:

Jack, that is indeed Arlo. It is the cover from the Album Alice's Restaurant. (Notice the location I have in my bio info under the Av. I'm a Group W guy from way back.)
Mike, those were the days huh?

Keith.
The song is called Alice's Restaurant, it is two sides of an LP record long. LP records are those things your Mom and Dad used to listen to music.:flipoff2:

The song started out as a protest song against the Viet Nam war but is now a cult icon. It is a Thanksgiving story so the Av is timely.

You owe it to yourself to get a copy and listen to it. It is F**** funny.

One of my favorite verses:
We walked in (to court), sat down, Obie came in with the twenty seven eight-by-ten
colour glossy pictures with circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back
of each one, sat down. Man came in said, "All rise." We all stood up,
and Obie stood up with the twenty seven eight-by-ten colour glossy
pictures, and the judge walked in sat down with a seeing eye dog, and he
sat down, we sat down. Obie looked at the seeing eye dog, and then at the
twenty seven eight-by-ten colour glossy pictures with circles and arrows
and a paragraph on the back of each one, and looked at the seeing eye dog.
And then at twenty seven eight-by-ten colour glossy pictures with circles
and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one and began to cry,
'cause Obie came to the realization that it was a typical case of American
blind justice, and there wasn't nothing he could do about it, and the
judge wasn't going to look at the twenty seven eight-by-ten colour glossy
pictures with the circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each
one explaining what each one was to be used as evidence against us. And
we was fined $50 and had to pick up the garbage in the snow, but thats not
what I came to tell you about.

Viet Nam...I wasnt even BORN YET!!!
LP...is that one of those black discs with grooves in it, like another name for a record?:D

I had never heard of that song!
It looks like on of the dudes that was on that F'd up movie Clockwork Orange!
May have to check it out though!

Its nice to see your enthusiasum for this song...
Very well thought out!

Bringin back some memories it seems!:smokin:

K

Keith you really have to listen to that song, it is a total crack up, the only thing is that you need to set aside about 30 min, it's a long song, but worth it. As Dan is pointing out and my feeble attempt, the whole thing is quotable.

Jack

KTHX ("The X") 100.1 always plays Alice's Restaurant and Greg Brown's "Canned Peaches" on Thanksgiving Day. It's not to be missed if you are spending time in Reno (or NOT...they started streaming from their website a few months back!).
