Auto gearbox oil change threads

Hi All.

I have been trying to serach for threads on changing the oil in the auto gearbox, perhaps I am not wording correctly (I am from the UK) as I am not getting any threads come up.

I am wondering what will be the best way to do it and what oil to put in.

If you search "transmission fluid change" or "transmission fluid exchange" you will get lots of threads.

I used Amsoil Universal ATF and I had a shop do the exchange with a BG transmission fluid machine which gently puts in the new fluid as the transmission pump pumps out the old.

There is a thread in the FAQ as well which explains how to do this procedure yourself.

You will find lots of opinions in these threads on the best fluid. I have been happy with the Amsoil and Mobil 1 synthetic ATF seems to be a good choice as well. Whatever you use, I would make sure it's fully synthetic. That way you only need to worry about the transmission every 100k or so.
