$25K, including a bill for your labor or just parts?
I have found that when doing a build most guys figure their time is free but far from the truth. truth is, if you were not doing the build you could be getting paid overtime, doing side jobs etc. how many hours do you have invested? times that by your normal hourly wage and then add that to the total cost. THAT is the true investment in the rig.

just sayin ...

nice rig.

Yeah true, well i put in around 400 hours i guess:doh:
my normal work wage is $28 an hour
400x28 = $11200
$25000+$11200= $36200:censor:
Worth every penny i reckon:clap:

now, if you take the average shop rate and calculate then you will get the idea of what a build like yours is worth to the average Joe ...

$36,200 is a very good investment when you consider a new POS Dodge, Chev or Ford diesel 4wd is $65K here in Canada and once off the lot it is worth $40K and they all look alike.

nice ride M8.

Wow a beauty in every way....................... Awesome job!

What a stunning build - really great work, and what attention to detail with the engine mods

Love the colour too!

Keep us posted with phase 2

:cheers:

Great Job! This is the type of "expedition build" that I like to see! Really interested in seeing your phase 2 creations. I loved the off road mags and outback rigs I saw when I visited Aus a few years ago. Spent a little time in a 40 down in NZ but the Utes with the john boats and gear for the bush really makes me want to go back and spend a month or two wandering around with your type of rig. The 70 Series is really starting to grow on me.

Keep up the good work! :beer:

Yeah, 36,200 sounds within ballpark for a total frame-off with a modded motor and custom parts. The better thing is how this is an investment as opposed to the other diesels Crushers listed. Demand for a Dodge Cummins, Chevy Duramax, and Ford Powerstroke will only hold peak at about 5 years. If I bought a 2011 Duramax, by the year 2015, I couldn't give the thing away, GM would have moved on to the next shiny toy, and there's no lifetime reputation with these things; nobody's gonna go hog-wild over it because frankly, they're a dime a dozen.

That HJ75 already has a cult following based on it's reputation and perceived quality as a Toyota Product. I'm sure it could be sold for 36-40,000 if you find the right buyer, and the folks who seek to own such machines not only want to drive it, but inherit the legacy associated with the Land Cruiser, a legacy not a single modern product of The Big Three has.

I give this build 5 beers.
:beer::beer::beer::beer::beer:

pure, undefiled, cruiser porn.

wow this thing is sweet my friend is over in melbourne on vacation i told him to keep an eye out for a cruiser ute about how much does a used stock cruiser cost over there really would love to import one over to baja mexico???????

Where did you manage to get your hands on a 12HT in Australia? All i can find are exchange engines and they wont take my 75's 2H for a 12HT :(

where are you looking? It's harder to find reuilt Toyota motors than ones in scrapyards and yard-ornaments.
It's generally cheaper to find one in a hulk and rebuld it than pay top-dollar for one that's already been reconditioned.

There's one on eBay for $7800 which you don't have to exchange engines but I think the price is to high

For that kind of coin, I'd expect to buy a donor rig for extra parts.

Yeah that's what I would do to but just putting up some suggestions

there are some around if you know where to look, i have 2 12HT's sitting in my shed plus the one in my ute :flipoff2: If you can find a hj75 with no rust they are pulling between 5000 to 12000 AU but they all have rust, i looked at over 30 utes before i bought this one for 2000 which i thought was a bargain because it had no rust anywhere:clap:

Holy Crap!

Man,

I was looking through the build pics and was like, "yeah, cool. I like it." But then I saw the finished product and literally gasped. My girlfriend on the other end of the couch was like. "what?!?". I showed her and she just shook her head at me.

Beautiful rig. VERY well done!
:cheers:
