im new to 4x4's and what a legend of a car to start my 4x4 experience in!!
hope ya'll like it!!

i think its had a shackle? lift and a body lift.
it drives real nice apart from a slight wobble at 90kmh (55mph?)
and has plenty of grunt with the aussie v8!!
ive been out 4wdriving in it twice since owning it and doing some these repairs and it seems to be a tuff 4x4!!

and finally some pics of the first test run (and the 55 flexin it muscles) at a local 4x4 park!

Great looking truck. It looks like a solid rig.

i kept looking at them they grow on you. Kinda like mold.

lol :D

im a fan of the fj45's too. specially the troopy's.

i read this on these forums awhile ago and was hooked on the 55's!!

Why "Iron Pig"?
"Picture a long, wide mud pit... you know what I'm talking about. The kind of pit filled with stinky, black, chunky mud the consistency of a thick stew... the smell of rotting vegetation is in the air, horseflies and dragonflies buzz overhead, and an old swaybacked cow chews its cud contentedly at the edge of the water, swinging its tail slowly as the morning dew dissipates and the sun dries a thin layer of the mud, deceiving you, beckoning...
"In the middle of this long, wide mud pit, wallowing contentedly, is a rare beast. Its weight draws it deeper into the mud, but somehow it is still moving, slowly, ever so slowly... its form hints at its strength, yet it moves with a certain grace that seems impossible for its bulk... nothing about this beast is delicate, and yet it possesses a strange beauty, a sense of timeless appeal.... you feel slightly repulsed, yet strangely attracted... you can sense its feral nature, its danger, but you can tell that this beast is somehow noble, a true master of its environment...
"Is it a wild boar, or a Cape buffalo? Perhaps a scarred old African bull elephant?...
No, the noble beast that has captivated your attention and perhaps your heart is a Toyota Land Cruiser FJ55, and now you know why those who of us in the know, those of an enlightened nature, those of us who believe call it an "Iron Pig". It is a sign of respect, of admiration, a fitting tribute...

So glad to see Henry's work quoted here!

Welcome to MUD - that is one fine Pig!!!

hi all, just thought id post a couple of new pics of my 55.
it's been awhile.
i lost interest in this car as it had a major wobble in the steering at speed.
turns out it was just the old tyres out of shape lol.. :bang:
anyhoo i ended up buying an FJ62 and used that.
finally got around to putting the 62 wheels on the 55 to see if it would drive properly before i bought new tyres for it and woohoo it does!! :bounce:
so ive started to clean the old girl up again and its coming up nice!!
im so wrapped that after such a long time i can finally use it!! and drive over 50mph without it shaking to pieces!!

Pig

There is no better time spent than prettying up your pig. We up here in the North are jeouls of all the neat stuff you guys have - 5speeds, long range tanks, and those great "bull bars". Great looking pig - keep us up to date with your progress.

Thanks
