I make the Window Rocket product for 80 series cruisers.

Since it's release early this year I've had a handful of 100 and 105 owners reach out saying their power windows are terrible, asking for a product to fix their windows.

However, the people I know with 100 series say their windows are great, no problems at all.

On a hunch, I started asking 100 series owners that reach out about slow windows what year their 100/105 is.

This is only handful ive asked so far, but all with Terrible windows are 1998 to 2000 range so far.

If you're a 100 or 105 owner could you post up whether your windows are good or bad and the year and model of your vehicle? If they're bad please explain how terrible- Do they roll down? Do they get stuck down sometimes? Worse in the cold? Etc.

Thank you for your input.

Dustin

I have a 2000 model year 100 Series, 50,000 miles, very good condition from Saudi Arabia (dry, heavy use of AC vs. window lifts). On a 1 to 10 scale, they are around a 5. My GX 460 is a 9 or 10.

2001 JDM,
170k km, spent 150k of its life in Osaka, the other 20 in Western Canada.

Windows are a solid 9/10

Interested to see what you find.

I wonder if it might benefit to see what sort of ambient temps the vehicle endures- parked outside in the blazes over time must take its toll on lubrication and electrics.

My 2007 is already a rocket compared to what my 1997 was which wasn't even as bad as most, it was okay. Both being at the extreme end of the model years I think that may be indicative of this making more sense a few more years down the line...

Edit: But then again I remember this being a common issue when I owned a 97 about 25 years ago, my first car. Maybe it was just something they did a better job with on the 100 series...

I have a 2001LC. The windows all work on a 6/10 scale and I think are noisy.

I'm under the impression Toyota did completely change the way the windows are powered in the 100 series.

'04 owner here. All windows are maybe a 6/10 and a little slower in the winter/wet.

2000 here. Probably a 3/10 when cold (Portland cold) and 6/10 when warm. I've sprayed the channels with dry lube and it kinda helps, but the cold really slows it down.

I'd buy one if you made a version for my year.

2003 100 no problems. This summer I replaced the driver's door lock actuator, cleaned the window tracks and then applied silicone. Smooth & quiet.

‘98 LC. Windows vary greatly, with passenger side worse than drivers side. Over the summer I removed the rear passenger window (it was almost non-functional) and super-cleaned the tracks. It works better, but is still slow. Front passenger is slow but at least doesn’t get stuck, drivers side is fine but nothing special.

I’d be happy to test things out if there were potential solutions. I have gone into my doors more often than I would like to admit, and have at least one or two door card pulls coming up as I swap a new stereo in (hopefully over the holidays).

2006 owner here. My windows are a 2/10 in the winter, 4/10 in the summer. Slow roll down and slow up but have never gotten stuck. I would absolutely buy this.

I have two 1999 100s and have not experienced issues with the speed at which the glass moves up and down, although it's certainly slower during the central Texas "winter" (I hesitate to even call it that in respect to our friends in the northern states)! :)

I have a 2002 with 257k miles and all 4 of my windows are super slow. The front 2 almost always get stuck going up so I never use them anymore lol

2000 100 Series in Aspen & Denver, Colorado. 474,000 kilometers. Driver windo is reasonably fast (7/10) in warm temps. In the cold it’s maybe 4/10. Front passenger is the slowest in all weather (4/10). It got stuck in the down position earlier this year. The rear windows can be slow too depending on temps (much slower in cold weather).

I have a 1999 LX470 and my windows are slow. In the summer I'd say they are about a 6/10, but in the winter they suck 2/10. When I say winter I'm referring to below 0 days. They are only marginally better than my 80 series windows were.

@Boss Hog your issue with the front passenger might be the regulator and not the motor, I had a similar issue early this year with the driver side, replaced the (evidently tweaked and worn) regulator with OEM and the change was significant.
