ARB vs. Stauns tire deflators????

I don't know man, looks a bit iffy to me to run without cores, O-ring or not, but eh, gotta live on the edge, I guess... :)

of course, mine are mostly freebie plastic caps from Costco. I'll look but I doubt those are very air tight. Maybe I'll splurge from some super duper chromed ones. Maybe even with a light :D

Loosen the core, so it is leaking, screw the cap on and test with soapy water. I bet even the plastic caps seal.

I ask for spare caps and cores when at the tire store (they take them off and throw away with each tire install), usually get a handful for free. Then sort out the nice ones and keep a bag of them in the rig. When we have had core issues, find a nice sealed cap, air the tire, screw the cap on and drive, zero issue.:hillbilly:

what about monster valves? anyone using those?

...
.. Of course, if someone is moving one toy to each tire, not likely to wait that long, catch up if you can.:hillbilly:
A set of four will air down faster. ;)

Stauns may not be the faster or the cheapest but they are idiot proof and require the least amount of effort to air down.
Not exactly idiot proof, in the hands of a true idiot they can fail. I proved it:grinpimp:. They are very temp sensitive.

I’m new to the air game, having got my puma installed and a new ARB deflator for Christmas. After reading this thread, I was out on the trail with Tools and Brother Rob. My thinking was that if pulling a core was that easy I would return the ARB unit and save some money. Watching as they air down it was obvious that the ARB is simply a slick little package that does exactly what they are doing. The difference is that they use a little tool to remove the stem and an air gauge to check the pressure.

While it may not do much more than they are doing, the ARB is slick in that it prevents core loss and allows for accurate pressure readings in a simple little package. In my mind it is a keeper.

I picked the ARB deflator over the stauns based upon the comments that temperature and altitude can affect they accuracy.
