I've had the entire dual bat kit on order from IPOR for 2 1/2 months now. It uses the surepower separator. Long story and my patience is just about out.

Cancel it, get the Hellroaring isolator and follow Cruiserdrew's installation. It is a 2 banana job but I have officially promoted you from 1/2 banana to 1 full banana. Doing the dual battery with the Hellroaring kit will make you a candidate for the 1.5 banana designation with 20 points extra credit for advanced electrical work. (That is, *if* you don't burn up the truck, the garage, and half the house. :D )

I'd do this, but I don't have either a crimping tool or soldering cabability for 2/4 guage wire.

Brentt-Next time you come north to pick up the :princess: stop by and I'll help you with a Hellroaring install. I have the crimpers and the stuff you need.

I borrowed the tool from Dan and crimped the connections. Oh wait... You live in KALIFORNIA, not in Albuquerque. :D

I have read several times that West Marine will let customers use their wire building and crimping tools in the shop. Might be worth a phone call.

Or, you can wail till IPOR decides you are worthy of their time and ships you what you ordered. (I really don't understand some business practices of the vendors in our small tight-knit community.)

Later... or you could go up North and let Cruiserdrew lend you a hand. :D

Drew,

I'd have loved to take you up on this, but I'm just flying up to pick up my daughter this coming Saturday and driving home with her in her car the same day. She's able to take things she won't need for the summer down to the grandparents in Walnut Creek and store them there so there'll be room for what she's bringing home in the Xa. No need to drive the beast up north.

Beo - the local West Marine only has a small crimping tool, not the big one - I already checked! If this goes on much longer, I'll check with the West Marine stores around Newport Beach. The Dana Point one is where I checked.

My test weekend went great! Really kept the mixers cold. One of the cool-est mods I have done thus far.

I will probably go to duel battery soon, its good to know one will get ya by...

Off to the Black Hills.... Now I just need to fix teh AC...... Clutch fan s*** the bed.....NO MORE AC! Parts on order and will be shipped to Black Hills Toyota for pickup Wed....

My experience is closer to Doug's.

Engine will consistently start after...: 48 hrs
Engine will not start after...............: 72 hrs

The figures I come up with off the top of my head show that a yellowtop would last between 20 and 70 hours depending on the settings/temps.

I have a couple of different crimpers I could let you borrow as well.
