I thought I'd share my fridge thermometer. It is a Taylor 9940 that I bought on eBay for $15. It runs on 1 AAA battery and has a range of -40 to 300 degrees F. Accuracy is supposedly +/- 1.8 degree F. It's accurate in my house but apears to runs high in the vehicle--not sure why. As long as its consistent, I'm okay with it. The unit can be flush mounted, panel mounted or recessed panel mounted like I did. It has 10 foot cord for the for the probe. Also included are schematics for wiring up a temperature alarm (so you don't accidentally freeze your vegetables) but that is beyond my skill level.

Installation was just a matter of using a dremel cutting blade, file and lastly a small buffing wheel to smooth the edges.

Since buying this thermometer, I have found other "panel mount" thermometers that have the temp. alarm built in. However, some use the less common LR44 batteries and the cord are only 3 ft long.

And the reason you need this?

MIBS out of control.

:flipoff2:
I guess there are worse things than frozen tomatoes, frozen beer or spoiled meat. One little turn of the knob on an Engel and it goes from cool to freezing. Getting to camp and opening your fridge to find warm beer kinda sucks.

very cool install. I love it when mods take on a factory look.
