ARB Dual Air Compressor and a Lithium LiFePO4 aux Battery

Separate from the electrical issue is the air chuck mismatch. This is easily fixed by changing the quick disconnect either the male or female depending on your terminal usage, simple swap usually less than $5.

Yeah, others have installed their batts with exposed terminals, and I would encourage them to insulate just the same. Lead acid batts are dangerous but somewhat self limiting. Lithiums are no joke.

Looks like two harnesses come off the Arb. The big "power harness" should go directly to the batt (not the Switchpros). And the control harness should go to the Switchpros brain.

Thanks for the visual aid. Only part I can remember from memory is a thick cable with the 2 big ARB fuses is about 12" from the compressor under the hood. The switch pros brain itself i haven't see the module yet. He had the Victron smart shunt attached to the drawer lid so i couldn't open it all the way. The Lexus guy has that all off now, so we're going to relocate that smart shunt so the electronics in the drawer wing are all accessible

good point, yeah that was my next step

As stock the fuses are on the battery end of the power harness, where they should be (increases the proportion of the wire that is protected in case of chafing or other damage). So the fact that they are near the compressor and not the battery suggests there were major changes to the harness.. so who knows what was laid in to get to the back.

Do you ever remember the compressor shutting off by itself? How long did it take while not flowing air out of the system?

Did the installer give you a schematic showing how everything is connected?

sore subject. He was supposed to, supposedly had it ready, but about a week before my trip he had some switchpro issue and he ended up frying the 1st switchpro. Then he got a new one and found out what went wrong, had to pull the drawers and re-wire everything which changed the wiring diagram. So end result no schematic yet

Not sure you'd want it given the $ mistake he made. Personally I'd redo the entire project, it may not be that big of deal if you can use any of the wire runs if properly sized and insulated.

Yeah big bummer, but this far in I just want it all done correct. Burns paying for the same job twice still. Currently It’s still with the Lexus tech now, he’s basically going through the whole thing looking for any and all mistakes and then is gonna let me know his opinion on if it needs to be completely re wired or not.
I’m still in the same boat where I don’t have the knowledge or time to do this work myself, so hoping this particular Lexus tech is as good as I heard he was. I really don’t have any good backup if I strike out though. So fingers crossed 🤞. I’ve heard mixed reviews about SDHQ. AZ wire Pro’s I’ve heard good things about, but they really just do Razer and race truck stuff, and they were the ones last winter who referred me to the guy who did the work. Only other shop I know is AT Overland up in Prescott but I think they specialize in 4 wheel campers and trailer builds

Try RV or emergency vehicle upfitters/builders as well. It is basically an RV application, more or less.

You and I have essentially identical setups aside from the Switch Pro. I would be happy to take a look at it as I have done mine twice now. From the limited portion of it that I have seen, I don't think it needs redone, just improved.

Thanks man I appreciate that. I'll see where I land with the Lexus tech 1st, but I'l def take you up on that if he can't work it out. Yeah you electrical install (as you know) and mine agreed almost exactly the same

Also, may be a long shot, but you should ensure that nothing is blocking the intake for the compressor. If you have an extension hose for the intake, make sure it is big enough.

The saga continues. The Lexus tech spent some more time digging into it and sent me this video this morning. Their opinion is the compressor doesn't look new, and has multiple issues. I have no way to know for sure on the new/used part, i bought through the shop that did the install. When they delivered the truck it visually appeared new to me, and he gave me a bag with the manual and supplied wiring harness. So, that putting that issue aside, not even sure what to make of this. Thoughts?

I wonder if the original installer took it apart to re-orient the outflow valve because of clearance issues and just didn't do it correctly? Also, I hope you are not paying normal dealer shop rates for this work

Have you contacted original install shop with this info and are they willing to repair or compensate you? If you suspect used parts ask to see their original purchase invoice. You may have been handed off to the new guy that used to flip burgers till he was fired, hope not. I still have confidence that in the end it will be done correctly, and best of all you're not broke down in BFE with no cell service, a family and triple digit heat.

Yeah def lucky last month when we were up in BFE Wyoming/Coloradfo (with lil kids) that we didn't have any issues for sure. I have not yet contacted the original install shop. Still building my case. The reason I wanted a neutral 2nd party to look at it all 1st was so I'd have more evidence of what all is wrong to present to them. Lame part is, I have little faith or desire to have the original shop fix, so best I can shoot for is trying to get them to compensate me. Good call on asking for the the purchase invoice. I did just re-look in the box of parts/manuals the install shop gave me, and the unused wiring harness was NOT the air compressor, it was for the STEDI driving lights. I did call around a bit and SDHQ which is local does have the compressor in stock. I did pitch the idea to the Lexus tech if the path of least resistance is throwing $575 at a new compressor and having him wire that correctly to the start battery then I'm open to that at this point. I don't want to waste more than that trying to fix this than it'd just cost to replace. If i end up going that route then i could take the original compressor back to the original shop to try to get refunded for that. Just a thought

Any part defect should be covered by the manufacturer, but did the installer give you a limited warranty or guarantee on workmanship? Seems like they would if they were a professional outfit.
