hey fellas,
those of you with first gen 4runners (or pickups of similar vintage) that are also sporting the ARB bull bar,
what size winch are you running?

I purchased my arb bull bar last year for my weekend / daily driver 4runner with little intention on adding the winch.

I am now in the process of selling another vehicle i own (nissan), that is equipped with a warn 12000 # electric winch. I am considering taking the winch off and installing it in my bumper on the 4runner simply because its mine, its there, and I can.

1) will it fit in there? i seem to remember seeing that the ARBs were designed for 9000 lb winches...not sure

2) is it overkill? i mean its probably more than necessary, but its basically free to me and I would have to purchase another winch otherwise.

Thoughts?

I shoe-horned a XRC12 into the ARB on my 80. I would say the easiest way to check it is to pull the bumper and lay it flat and then just sit the winch in and see what hits. Might need to use some spacers (what i had to do on my 80) and possibly trim some. The foot bolt pattern should be the same.

You might look at the dimensions on the 8k and the dimensions on your 12k and see how different they are. That would be a good starting point.

thanks for the input fellas.
hopefully i will get the pathfinder sold soon and i can start investigation. ill post something up if it goes well.

if not, i guess i could always part with it here on mud and use the cash to buy a new 9000lb one.

later fellas,
happy new year.
