So I finally got a decent camera for X-Mas and have started learning a little photography with help from a cousin who belongs to the North County photographic society. The club was doing a photographic tour of Anza and needed a 4WD so he asked if I wanted to go if I drove. I jumped at the chance to wheel a little and learn from some very good photographers.

We did the following route and I had a blast - 17 palms - pumpkin patch - hawk canyon - the slot - and finally the wind caves looking towards Font's Point.

Here are a few pics.

Nice pics too, love the color this time of year.

I'm a point'n shooter myself, but would love a good dslr.
Maybe when I get my bonus back!

Dan.

I think we (Darwalk and I) crossed paths with you near pumpkin patch. He was in the lifted blue 80 and I was in my dark grey Tundra D-Cab. We were also out there to play with Darrin's new Canon SLR. My 80 is getting a custom rear bumper so it did not get to wheel this weekend.

Nice photos! I was out there with my camera last year for the bloom. Boy was it busy out there. The OC Register had run an article in the paper about the wildflower bloom, so there were literaly 1000 people up in Coyote canyon. Driving all kinds of vehicles back in there.

I was bored here at work today so I took a few of your photos and ran them through Photoshop. I hope you don't mind.

I was wondering if that was someone on MUD. Nice rig!

Not at all, that is the next thing on my list to get. Right now I am just using Nikon ViewNX to browes the photos. I'm discovering that this could be an expensive hobby.:D

I learned Photoshop at SD Continued Education for free. And for $10 you can get a student card and then purchase photoshop for half price as a student. I really learned a lot and it paid off for a year when it became my job.

Good to know, I'll have to check that out.

Mark - I almost gave you a call to go but found out that it was limited to 12 photo club members. I do not belong to the club but because my cousin does and they needed a 4WD I was invited. It's nice when your LC gives you a pass to events.:D

Some of these guys are very serious about their photography. I saw some with equipment worth $10 - $15K. One guy had two cameras one of which he had converted to infrare red (I didn't even know you could do that) and I think his other camera was a Nikon D3x which is $8K alone.

Yeah the class was a one night a week thing for 8 or 10 weeks and I actually learned more than you would expect.

I understand that was the invite parameters, but if they ever need another 4x4 I am down.

Yeah when I was doing photos at the car shows I would be at the front of the stage during a bikini contest and the guy next to me would have a $5k Nikon and I would just think to myself, you are wasting it on THIS??????????
