I currently have a NOS Vintage Air unit (part # 75080-LTZ-A) that was installed by the PO on my '81 US Spec 40...worked great for about 1 year and then on a 2 hour trip over the summer into the GA Mountains, I noticed that it was no longer blowing cold air. Skip ahead a few months, I made sure everything was working correctly from inside the cabin, but I did notice that the compressor was not kicking on like it used to....meaning the clutch was not activating. Belt is tight and everything seems to be normal as is.
Would this be a possible low pressure or R134a refrigerant; therefore the binary safety switch is no longer allowing the compressor to activate. I know these switches are there to shut it down with high compression or low refrigerant (image below for reference). I have not had the system leak tested or checked for R134a levels.
Thanks for any insight.
