Dude, you do realize it's supposed to be like 101 degrees sunday right? And you live in Fontana... that means 105-110 lol

I'd love to help, but i'll be camped out in the frozen food section at the local grocery store like Al Bundy.

I know, I just threw out a flyer to see if its possible. No worries.

Hey Jiggawu.
I was wondering about the sliders youre going to get. Still waiting for mine (not in a rush tho).

Id help out too but Im not in the physical condition to be lifting things right now.
You live near a bunch of 80 Cruiserheads (Im only 1hour 45 min from Fontana :D) - only problem is that its the July 4th holiday.

Im guessing you can do this by yourself if you own a couple of jack stands/jacks. Ill be going that route since Im the only 80 driver I know where I live. Just post up if you need help from the exp LC heads (here or 80s Tech section).

Good luck!

Im redlands but am working today... if you want to do it later in the week let me know....

cherry valley and im pretty good with MT stuff, have there sliders, cage, doors and some other crap

Well, I think the easier solution may make things worse as the sliders are not for your model year;).

The hole widening solution may be on the horizon. What tool would be best for that? A narrow rough file, or drilling it out more? I have drill bit, but I am not sure of the quality needed to drill through this thick of metal. Any suggestions?

I've added some pictures, please check out my latest attempt. Removing the heat shield made no difference.

PabloVTA, can you take a look at yours and then my pictures to see if it seems right? Thanks.

Jiggawu, did everything turn out right?

I posted some pics on my thread after my second attempt, but only one has really responded to it. I am going to give metaltech a call to see what they say. From the looks of things and the pics I took, I think the sliders have some flaw.

One solution that a member did was drill out the holes bigger and used longer bolts with nuts to mount. I would hate to have to alter the sliders in a permanent way. But we will see.

that's the threaded hole that is mis-matched right?

when you say you lifted the cats with a jack and the truck was raising, were you supporting the sliders also? or were you just jacking up the exhaust that far?

If you were pushing the exhaust up so much that it lifted the truck, then I'd say it's something with the location of their holes , and not your exhaust.

If you can get this front top bolt in first, even if you have to move the whole slider forward, then hang the middle top and then the rear, then go back to the second bolt up front. IF nothing works, try loosening the hangers from the cats, and then get the slider in and see if the holes will work. If they still don't, even though you moved the cats out, then it HAS to be the sliders problem.

Mark will jump thru a ring of fire for you to get a good part. He sent me a whole 'nother set once we figured his welders jig was jacked up. But that was a year ago...he tossed 10 sets cuz of that.
