anyone up for hunting coyotes, and possibly hogs??

I met a customer that farms somewhere around 7000 acres near augusta and he offered me his guest house if I came down and killed as many coyotes and hogs as I could,,,, I have not talked to him lately but think that would be a good spring trip, anyone interested if I can get intouch with him and set it up?

just post up if you would be interested in a spring trip, from what he said there are PLENTY to kill and he would be very grateful for some responsible hunters to come down and help him out, he is tired of loosing calves and farm land to these pests...

I see this as the last great Safari! I'm in too. Lifetime NC Hunter. What are the license requirements for this in GA for out of state hunters? AR-15?

Most states dont place restrictions on either of those animals especially not on private land they are both nuisance animals, here in VA I get $75 if I shoot a coyote just swing by a game office and they cut you a check.

I'm moving to VA!

IIRC SC doesn't place limits on Yotes or Pigs - but there are some seasonal limitations and gun limitations based on Game Zones.

30 rounds of 64g .223 soft points = a goooooood time.

I had some hogs tear up a bit of one of my food plots this year. I never actually saw the hogs though. I did have 325 grains from a 45-70 waiting on them several times though.

sounds like fun. I am in too. I am actually going to look at a new M4 tomorrow and shot a friends ak. would be a good way to break it in.

Can you eat the hogs? I don't mean to ask a dumb question...but I like bacon. I won't actually kill anything because I am a softie and it would make me sad, but if someone else shoots it, I'll sure eat it.

Yes - you can eat wild hogs but if you want meat to eat then you need to shoot the smaller ones (not huge old grandpas) and also there is some concern about having to cook the meat thoroughly.

Mmmm...trichinosis. My favorite.

Wild hog's

Older boars are just about unedible due to the musk in the system but the young are great. Wild hogs will be loaded with all kinds of parasites not just Tric, but good cooking will kill them all, so good hunting and eating. Doc:clap::clap::clap::flipoff2:lucky ba****ds

Well apparently the hogs are gone, he let a bunch of guys hunt them last year and he has only seen 2 during all of deer season, he hunted deer a lot and actually only saw those 2 while he was on a tractor...

BUT the yotes are thick and need to be dealt with. The chances are lower that we'll be successful, than on a hog hunt, but ya never know.

ARs are fine that is what I will be using, .223, 22-250, 220 swift, 22 mag, are prefered, Aks are fine, 7mm/270/30-06/30-30/.308 are a little overkill but will work, anything that will reach out at least 100yds is fine and 200yds is better

Making sure you are sighted in with a good scope is the best thing you can do, then making sure you are using quality ammo that you sighted your gun in with is important too.

Consensus seems to be that semi-auto is best for when the second one comes running in,,, I have a few calls and am making as well as testing a field decoy, nothing complicated but better than mameing a rabbit and leaving it in a field as a "natural" call,,, not really my way,,

if I go with the Nikon instead of the Leupold VX III or VX II, I can probably afford a store bought mechanical decoy, instead of down/feathers tied to a stick with some 4# or so fishing line.

This is similar to what I hope to be using... in the 24" version :grinpimp:

THAT IS GREAT!! I need to vacation in VA, with my rifles hehehe:hillbilly:

My AR is a carbine (16" short barrel) with a non-magnified halo sight or peep sights. I can shoot decent groups but can put a ton of lead down range especially with the halo sight. Accuracy over 100 yards would be questionable and I would rather have a scope. I also have a 308 and 30-06 that I have up to a 9x scope on that I could shoot well over 200 yards with some light-skinned loads.

If we want to hunt in pairs I could either be the first shot (with the 30-06) or the follow up 30 shots (with the AR). :grinpimp:

BAM - pop pop pop pop pop pop pop pop pop pop pop pop pop pop pop pop pop pop pop pop pop pop pop pop pop pop pop pop pop pop.

I am in......handgun (.44 mag, .45LC), bow(recurve, longbow) , rifle (.300 winmag, .308, M1 Garand, AR15, .45-70, etc)...does not matter as long as I can keep one or two of the hogs to bbq. Just tell me when and where....

is he on GA side or SC side....so I can make sure license is in order.

I'm in as long as I am not on a boat. Love to cap a few hogs and bag a coyote.

I have eaten wild hogs for years down here with no problems. Just be careful when you gut 'em. No open cuts on your hands. I always wear latex gloves when unzippin' them.

and cook thoroughly to kill the trichinosis.....but otherwise a young hog is SCHWEEEEEEET! And a big boar with some nice tusks is good for sausage and a souvenir. :D
